Lazy Mom's Day 2024

September 6 was Lazy Mom's Day. I was able to sort of celebrate this. It was also Read a Book Day, which I was also able to sort of celebrate.

Jet and I went for our walk on a popular birding trail but I didn't have my binoculars or camera so I practiced birding by ear. Marsh wrens, Caspian terns, Sandhill cranes, and plenty of others. I love hearing birds. As we were walking we ran into a couple birders visiting from Holland. That was fun to chat about birding places around here with people from out of country. It was still a relaxing walk.

I actually sat down to watch a movie that day.

It was also the birthday of someone close to me so I wore my bow earrings while I was running errands.

Timing was right while I was out so I stopped by Jeremy's work to surprise him when he finished. He was pleasantly surprised. 

It was also Read a Book Day. Tee Hee.

That evening, I took a little more time to be lazy and went out to Hill Park to watch the sunset.

So I sort of celebrated Lazy Mom's Day.

Food Nanny Dinner

March 18 was National Sloppy Joe Day. That meant it was time for The Food Nanny's dinner. Sloppy Joes and Rice Pilaf both from "The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner."

My baking buddy helped me make the hamburger buns (rolls). 

It was also Forgive Mom and Dad Day. I texted my Mom and Dad to say wonderful things about them and as an afterthought, I told them I forgave them. Tee Hee. I also told my kids to forgive me for things I did.

I Love Aprons

You know I love aprons. I wear them all the time. My mom recently made me a new apron and sent it to me. It has birds on one side and wolves on the other. Perfect for me.

My mom loves me and appreciated how much I gushed over the apron when it arrived in the mail.

This is My Life

Sometimes I feel I can be very productive. The other day, I took a walk to the post office to mail a letter. Jet was asleep. Jeremy was home. I got exercise and something done at the same time.

Sometimes I feel I can take a break and give Jet attention that he needs. Even if that means stopping to let him sit on my lap for a while.

And sometimes I try to be productive (or just eat my food) and someone makes it not so easy.

I wouldn't give it up, though. I love being a mom. It is one of the greatest blessings I have. I choose this.

Grandma's Birthday

We wanted to celebrate Grandma's birthday, so we asked her what we should eat kind of like we did for Grandma's birthday in May and Paco's birthday in January. Mmm, Grandma had some good suggestions.

We were going to make salmon burgers to go with homemade hamburger buns but when I went shopping apparently I didn't realize that some cans of salmon have skin and bones in them. Eww. So we heated up fish sticks instead and some of us made them into fish stick sandwiches.  

We also had cherry ice cream with chocolate chunks along with gooey brownies since Grandma would prefer that.

I took a video of Jr. Jr. and Lucky wishing Grandma Happy Birthday and sent it to her along with a video of Jet singing Happy Birthday. That was cute.

Mother's Day 2021

I love being a mom. I really do. There are times I don't get along with my kids but I always love them and I know they love me, too.

Then there are those times when we get along really well and have great times together. I still love my kids during the good times.

For Mother's Day this year, both Jr. Jr. and Lucky brought me things they made at school including coupon books, cards, Lucky made me a flowers in a vase picture, and Jr. Jr. decorated a tile and included things in the drawing that have significance to our family.

Grandma's Birthday

We wanted to celebrate Grandma's birthday, so we asked her what we should eat kind of like we did for Paco's birthday in January. Mmm, Grandma had some good suggestions.

We also had mint chocolate chip ice cream and chocolatey cake with candles- one for each grandchild. When we showed her the pictures later, she figured out that we did that with the candles. Since she wasn't there on her birthday to blow out the candles, Lucky did.

Happy Birthday, Mom/Grandma! We enjoyed celebrating for you.

Gold Star Mother's Day

September 27 was Gold Star Mother's Day. I asked that the kids make dinner that day. I wanted a break but seeing as I'm a "gold star mother," I helped somewhat.

Nichole made a jalapeno pasta dish (with her dad's help learning it), Jr. made hot dogs with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese, Jr. Jr. made cornbread, Lucky prepared hot chocolate with whipped cream on top.

Thanks for making dinner, kids. You're welcome for helping.

Catch of the Day

I found this on the door one night after Jr. Jr. and Lucky had gone to bed and Jeremy was out birding with the oldest two. Awwwww. Thanks, Lucky.

The KAT's Meow

Mom: I don't babysit you. 
Lucky: Why don't you babysit me?
Mom: I'm your mom.  I nurture you.
Lucky: You murder me?
Mom (laughing): I don't murder you.  I nurture you.

Mother's Day 2017

So yesterday was Mother's Day.  Lovely day.  Church was nice.  Nichole made me some things in Primary.  Some of the boys gave me candy from the "candy man."
After church, I got to open up Mother's Day gifts that Jr. and Jr. Jr. made me at school.  I also opened up a gift from Jeremy.

Everyone helped make dinner.  The kids made pancakes (chocolate chip), a couple of them made an orange drink, and Jeremy made eggs and ham.

Jeremy also made me truffles.  Mmmmmm.

I love my family.  I love being a mother to my children.  I love having Jeremy as my husband and father to my children.
I also called my mom to wish her a Happy Mother's Day.  I love my mom.  She is such a good mom now and was a good mom while I was growing up.  I want to be like her.  Wonderful woman.
It was a good Mother's Day.
