A Couple More March Holidays

March 18 was Forgive Mom and Dad Day. The first thing Lucky did that morning was give us both hugs and tell us he forgave us.
We had to get forgiveness for some other things that day.
But we did not have to be forgiven for dinner. We had sloppy joes for Sloppy Joe Day and everybody in the family likes sloppy joes. The recipe we use is from The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner.

The next day, March 19, was Let's Laugh Day. There was lots of laughing. That's not surprising in our family.
It was also Chocolate Caramel Day so I made Olloch the Glutton's Caramel Biscuit Bars from The Fablehaven Cookbook. Nobody complained about that, either.

Food Nanny Dinner

March 18 was National Sloppy Joe Day. That meant it was time for The Food Nanny's dinner. Sloppy Joes and Rice Pilaf both from "The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner."

My baking buddy helped me make the hamburger buns (rolls).

It was also Forgive Mom and Dad Day. I texted my Mom and Dad to say wonderful things about them and as an afterthought, I told them I forgave them. Tee Hee. I also told my kids to forgive me for things I did.

Forgive Us

March 18 is Forgive Mom and Dad Day so to celebrate we dragged the kids out birding (they had to forgive us for that, right?).  We did mostly birding from the car, driving up and down a certain canyon.  We did get out a few times to let everyone stretch their legs.
The kids were happy to get to stretch their legs at one point at a playground.
It was nice.  We did get to see some birds we hadn't seen before.  We also saw some birds we had seen before.  It was still fun.

Humbug

Honestly, if I wasn't doing LIGHTtheWORLD, I wouldn't be writing this blog post.  Late nights and early mornings are catching up to me (Ah, the season of Christmas).  I need to go to bed so I'm going to make this quick.  I guess that works for Humbug Day which is December 21, right?  Actually, this evening we let the kids watch The Muppet Christmas Carol after they made balloon ornaments to put on our balloon tree.  That's how we really celebrated Humbug Day.

O.K.  Back to making this quick.  The theme for LIGHTtheWORLD today was "Jesus forgave others and so can you."  I chose to laugh a lot instead of get upset a lot today with my children.  That included when they were jumping on me or right in my face during Christmas singing performances at the school.  It helped me be less grumpy and was a good reminder that they are special little people who need to be treated well even if I might normally get frustrated.
I can't put all my thoughts and feelings into words right now since I need to go to bed so this is just a little something.  Service in our families is just as important as service to others outside our home and how we treat others can definitely be a service.

Forgive Mom and Dad Day 2015

Why is it that on Forgive Mom and Dad Day, March 18, I always have a good day and don't need to be forgiven for losing my temper?
It happened again this year.  I'm glad I didn't lose my temper.  I should be forgiven for a few things, though.
This morning I lost my balance and stumbled on Nichole.
Lucky was very clingy while I was trying to get ready and go out walking with a friend.  He was not happy that I kept setting him down or handing him over to Daddy.
It was a good walk, though.
Thanks, Emily.
I took the kids to the library this evening and accidentally bumped into them several times with the stroller.
Little things like that are reasons I should be forgiven today.  Nothing big.
Overall it was a good day and I did get along with the kids.
We win.
