At Home Potluck

I've been enjoying monthly at home potlucks the past few months. Jeremy made it back in time for our November potluck and this is what we had.

Lucky's contribution was pickles since it was National Pickle Day on November 14.

Jr. finally got a chance to make creme brulee like he'd been wanting to. He used a recipe from his French cooking book he got for his birthday and used the heat tool that we use for roasting marshmallows inside for crystalizing the sugar on top. Yum. Good job, Jr. Since he was doing it for several people, he got better and better at it as it went along. Fun.

Fair Convention

Even though Jeremy missed some of our celebrating while he was at the fair convention, he did his own celebrating there. The convention had different theme nights for dinner. One night was Star Trek themed. One was the Roaring Twenties.

He went to the convention with two other artists:
Marcus, Funny Man Who Does Tricks
Dan Paulus, Comedy Magician
Check out their websites. http://www.funnymanwhodoestricks.com/
When I asked Jeremy to give me their websites for this post, he included his own. http://balloonguyentertainment.com/

Marcus is our good friend who hosts the annual jugglers' BBQ that we like to go to. He won an award at the convention- Service Member of the Year- because he's so awesome. Jeremy was so glad he got to be there when Marcus won that award.
Jeremy had a good time and built a very nice butterfly out of balloons.

Turkeys and Veterans and Pizza, Oh My

Jeremy was out of town at a fair convention so the kids and I celebrated a few things without him.

Jr. Jr. and Lucky went to a little Thanksgiving Dinner where they got to do crafts and eat food.

The next day, November 11, was Veterans Day.
It was also National Sundae Day so we had Chinese Sundaes, also known as Hawaiian Haystacks.
The next day, November 12 was Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day. Sadly there have been a few years when we've missed this holiday. Can you believe it? I made sure to celebrate it this year. Individual pizzas with lots of choices for sauces and toppings including dessert pizzas.

That day, Jr. also entered a Fablehaven trivia contest at school because the newest Dragonwatch book came out in October and they had a couple copies to check out. The two people with the most points would get to check out the book first and the top 10 scorers would get a metal bookmark.
When Nichole and Jet and I picked him up from school, I asked how it went because he'd been studying/reading books to prepare. He let me know he got 11th place. Oh, no. That's too bad. Barely missed it. We gave him sympathy.
Mom: Oh, man. Seriously, you got 11th place?
Jr.: Just kidding. I got 10th.
Mom: Really? So you did get a bookmark. Ha Ha Ha Ha.
Jr.: Yeah. 1+0=10, right?
Mom: No. It equals 1.
Jr.: Oh, so I guess I got 1st place.
That made me laugh because he totally had us going. Thinking how sad that he didn't even get a bookmark, to happy to find out he did, to ecstatic to find out he got to check out the new book first. Yay! Nice one, Jr. He also got to check out another book and besides the bookmark, he also got some stickers.
Way to go, Jr.
I keep telling you we're Brandon Mull fans.

We're Thankful For... Jet

"When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way From your first bassinet to your last dying day."

My little baking buddy is such a blessing in our lives. Everyone in the family adores him and he loves us.

We had to spread his birthday out celebrating through a few different days this year because of schedules and sickness... again. But it was fun.

He's still learning the concept of present unwrapping (probably a good thing so he's not ripping into presents he shouldn't) but he was very happy with his Cocomelon stacking train when he got it unwrapped. He recognized the characters before he even finished taking the paper off the box.

Jet, you're great. I am so glad you are a part of our family. Happy Thanksgiving!

More Dinner Club

Some dinners don't fit into our celebrating (it's amazing how many do) but I'm loving Dinner Club so here are some more of my #dinnerclub posts.

Bonding Time

We had some official one on one bonding time planned for Fall Break then... you know.

Lucky and I were finally able to squeeze in some time together. We played video games and Battleship and ate Cheetos Puffs. Lucky beat me twice in Battleship.

Since we did it on November 8, later on in the day we celebrated Bram Stoker's Birthday and Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day with garlic bread like we try to every year.

Bison Day 2021

Mom (when someone pointed out there was a spray bottle in the van): Why is the spray bottle in here anyway?
Jr.: To fill up the Great Salt Lake.

National Bison Day was November 6 this year and like last year, we celebrated it on Antelope Island.

Before we got there, we stopped by my sister's house so I could chat with her and her daughter and give them homemade french bread. I love my sister. And my niece. And the rest of my sister's family of course. I didn't mean to exclude them. It's just that my niece and my sister were the ones I interacted with the most this trip. Tee Hee.

On Antelope Island, we took pictures with the bison statues again.

We really wanted to get into Bison Day this year not just with the real animals but with other bison-related items. That meant clothing and toys. But I totally forgot to bring the "buffalo ranch" Pringles. Sigh.

It wasn't as windy as last year so we had a pleasant time outside the van at Garr Ranch and especially in the bird area.
What does the sheep say? Baa Baa.

Nichole decided to practice field sketching a great horned owl there as well as taking some photos of it.

At one point while driving around, the boys had their devices, Nichole watched them play, and Jeremy and Jet slept so I parked in a pullout area and just relaxed watching the bison for a while. It was nice.

Since November 6 was also Nachos Day, that's what we had for dinner when we got home.

It was another great Bison Day and I'm so glad we celebrated.
