Lazy Mom's Day 2024

September 6 was Lazy Mom's Day. I was able to sort of celebrate this. It was also Read a Book Day, which I was also able to sort of celebrate.
Jet and I went for our walk on a popular birding trail but I didn't have my binoculars or camera so I practiced birding by ear. Marsh wrens, Caspian terns, Sandhill cranes, and plenty of others. I love hearing birds. As we were walking we ran into a couple birders visiting from Holland. That was fun to chat about birding places around here with people from out of country. It was still a relaxing walk.
I actually sat down to watch a movie that day.

Snuggles!
Snuggles?
It was also the birthday of someone close to me so I wore my bow earrings while I was running errands.
Timing was right while I was out so I stopped by Jeremy's work to surprise him when he finished. He was pleasantly surprised.
It was also Read a Book Day. Tee Hee.
That evening, I took a little more time to be lazy and went out to Hill Park to watch the sunset.
So I sort of celebrated Lazy Mom's Day.

And Then Things Got Crazy

After Jeremy and I had such a nice relaxing anniversary celebration, our family then had a crazy busy week.
August 13 was Alfred Hitchcock's Birthday. It was also my nephew's birthday, my brother's anniversary, and a good friend's anniversary. Hence the bow earrings.

There were back to school nights and first days of schools.
When taking Jr. Jr. to back to school night, it was fun to see Nichole's ceiling tile was still up right outside the library.
Lucky's teacher has a Harry Potter themed room this year so he got to run through the "wall" at Platform 9 3/4 to get into his classroom to meet his teacher.
I asked what the boys wanted for first day of school breakfast. "Apple Pancakes" from The Fablehaven Cookbook. Are we surprised? No.
Jr. Jr. had two first days of school pictures because he had two first days. 7th grade day and everyone's first day.
We also went to a Utah County Birders potluck that week. The kids had fun running around and one of the birder's little boy joined in the fun.

We celebrated National Fajita Day on August 18.

We had a neighborhood end of Summer party for our ward that week as well. It rained pretty hard and was windy while we were there.
Crazy busy. I tell you.

Daughters Day

September 25 was National Daughters Day.
I love my daughter. I love her talents, her creativity, her similar hobbies (birding is great with this girl), her kindness, her intelligence, her gospel discussions with us. I love her in our family. I love her in so many ways I can't list them all.

It was also Shel Silverstein's birthday so I made sure to wear my bow earrings.

Happy Birthday, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

May 22 was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Birthday. I wore my bow/ribbon earrings and stegosaurus necklace because Sir Arthur Conan Doyle didn't just write about Sherlock Holmes. He also wrote about the Lost World. Tee Hee.

Those are my special occasion earrings. I usually wear them to celebrate birthdays like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's. They look like ribbon bows you find on the top of presents. So fun.

P.S. Nichole really likes Sherlock Holmes books.

KAT's Kreation- gecko earrings

Years ago, I made a lot of beaded jewelry- bracelets, earrings, etc.  As you can imagine, with little kids, I don't do nearly as much with those tiny beads now.
One of my favorite pairs of earrings I made was a pair of geckos that I still wear often.

For Nichole's birthday this year, I wanted to make her a pair of gecko earrings in colors she liked.  Since she doesn't have pierced ears, I found some clip-on earring attachments at a Jo-Ann store so she could wear them on her ears like me.

She was very happy with the result  Unfortunately, her ears are not used to having things clipped on them, so she can't wear them for very long at a time.  She does like them, though and I'm happy for that.
