He's Back

We got Jeremy back!
After 2 1/2 weeks away, Jeremy got back from his South Carolina fair on October 22, National Color Day.
Look how cute we are with the different colors we're wearing.

Speaking of colors, I got out that morning for a walk with some colors.
I also finally wore a bright red shirt I got a while back that says "Bake the World a Better Place." You know I love baking but I'm usually wearing an apron while baking. I finally wore this shirt (and an apron) while baking bread and got my picture with the shirt and the bread.

Jet brought home a cute little "Monster Spring" (that's what he named it) from school so I showed him how it pops and he loved it.

We got multiple colors in our dinner. Creamy Beef Enchiladas from A Season of Family Meal Plans, volume 4, by Jordan Page. Because these books are all about this, I saved some of our French Dip meat from when we had French Dip sandwiches while Jeremy was gone (also from that book) to use in the enchiladas. Oh and we substituted a pork roast for a beef roast (substitutions are encouraged). We had a spinach salad side dish.

Nice celebrating Color Day and the best part of course was getting Jeremy home. I missed him.

Sewing Boy

Jr. took a sewing class last year and made a bunch of neat things. I don't have a lot of pictures but here are some of the things I do have pictures of.
He made a rice warmer. He lets me use it sometimes.

He made an apron. I told him my mom would be proud. She makes aprons.

He made a stuffed squid for Jet. Jet loves it.

He made a card holder (gift card holder).

Well done, Jr. Well done.

First Day of Spring

March 19 was the Vernal Equinox, Poultry Day, Chocolate Caramel Day, and Let's Laugh Day. I laughed because for the Equinox we made Fablehaven food from the Fablehaven Cookbook. It's tradition on the equinoxes and solstices. We had Ogre Stew (with chicken/poultry in it), Muriel's Pretzel Knots, and Olloch the Glutton's Caramel Biscuit Bars (which have chocolate and caramel in them).
Jet helped set the table. He's a good helper.
The weather was so warm that day, I didn't bother taking my jacket to pick up one of the kids from the bus. I just headed out to the van... while still wearing my apron. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.
It was also so nice that after dinner, I went out for a drive. So beautiful.
Ah, Spring. Then a few days later we got snow and hail and it's been off and on like that for a while.

I Love Aprons

You know I love aprons. I wear them all the time. My mom recently made me a new apron and sent it to me. It has birds on one side and wolves on the other. Perfect for me.
My mom loves me and appreciated how much I gushed over the apron when it arrived in the mail.

Speaking Of...

Continuing on with what has become tradition this year. When we got back from our Pacific Northwest trip, Jeremy and I got a selfie with the American flag because they forgot to take it down after Pioneer Day. Heh Heh Heh.

Speaking of my husband, we were at the grocery store one day and he saw some chili cornbread in the discount bakery section and said it looked so good. I told him I could make that at home. Cornbread is easy to make. We had green chilies in the pantry. So later, I made some. Yumm.

Speaking of American flags, one day we were sitting at home and there was a lovely rain and windstorm happening outside. A few of us went outside to enjoy it. It definitely got the American flags blowing. And check out Jet's hair.

Speaking of Jet, one day we needed help bringing in Costco supplies from the van. Jet really wanted to help so he grabbed the first two shoes that he could find, put them on, then went up to help.

Speaking of helping out, one day my sons said this to me. "You wanted us to help pick up the living room, right?" This is what I found them carrying:

Speaking of carrying, one day Nichole, Jet, and I went to a park so I could let Jet run around without worrying about him running off. He went a little ways then decided he just wanted Mommy to pick him up and hold him. Ha Ha Ha Ha. He sure liked the swings, though.

Speaking of Jet again, he's decided it's hilarious to pull my apron strings, not just to untie them, though, but to pull them hard enough to make me have to step back. He is so fun.

Catch of the Day

We didn't want Nichole to get any food on her shirt so I suggested we put an apron on her.  She asked if I could tie it for her.  So I did.  I just tied it around the chair while I was at it.  She couldn't lean very far forward while eating but got a big kick out of it all the same.
