General Conference October 2025

October 4 was Cinnamon Roll Day. I know some people make cinnamon rolls as a General Conference tradition but our traditional food is nachos. I made cinnamon rolls anyway because I like cinnamon rolls and I wanted to celebrate. Lucky frosted them. So helpful.
We also had nachos with fresh tomatoes and jalapenos from our garden!
Nichole made brownies for Saturday evening session which is also a tradition, but we had to eat them starting in the middle. That's how the tradition goes.
So we had some good food for Conference this time.

Other things we did:
General Conference snuggles
More dress up (that silly cutie)
A card game between sessions
I continued to work on those juggling balls that Jr. Jr. and I are making together
Several of us took notes and I definitely wrote down some things I want to work on with myself and in our home.
Another wonderful General Conference.

Father's Day 2022

Father's Day was on June 19.
Kids made Dad breakfast in bed.

The Primary sang, "Daddy's Homecoming," in Sacrament Meeting. Jet heard the music and started singing along with the introduction before the Primary kids started singing. Lucky was rocking out to the music while singing with the other kids on the stand.
Some information about Jeremy was shared in a game in Primary. "Mystery Dad." Lucky got to share about his dad breaking a world record.
Jet got a picture of his family drawn by a nursery worker at church. Jeremy got a cinnamon roll after church from the Relief Society.

While Jeremy took a nap the kids and I made dinner for him. The kids each wrote a note finishing, "My dad is special because..." Sweet children. I stapled the five together so Jeremy was able to see them at dinner.
The kids also decorated paper cups with messages and pictures for Father's Day dinner.
Jr.: What? You told us to put sharpies on the cups.

We used Lucky's lanterns he made us to add to the special dinner atmosphere.
Then the kids took turns passing my phone around under the table to text Jeremy digital Father's Day cards throughout dinner.
Nichole also made a comic on the computer. If you give Nichole a medium...
He enjoyed all of the food and notes he got for Father's Day. I'm glad we were able to make it a good one for him since he's the best.

Jeremy and I each called our dads to wish them Happy Father's Day as well. They're also the best.

Kitchen Klutzes of America Day

June 13 was Kitchen Klutzes of America Day. Nichole made pizza. Jr. Jr. made rolls and took out some of the insides and added honey and called them honey buns. Cute.

The next day, June 14, was Flag Day. I made sure to get a picture again with the kids and the flags.

I also made cinnamon rolls out of the leftover dough from the night before.
Someone didn't want to wait for me to get a picture.

Summer Reading

Library Summer reading programs are underway.
Orem Library had a virtual kickoff event this year (obviously). We were able to watch the event on Facebook that introduced the theme of "Around the World in 8 Weeks," including the traditional puppet show. Jet loves puppets.
Provo Library is doing their program virtually and their theme is "Imagine Your Story" so there has been a lot of fairy tale and folk tale type activities such as #provostorytrails where we go out for walks at local parks where they have parts of a story on signs along the trail. That way we get exercise and a story at the same time. So far we've read "The Elves and the Shoemaker," "The Nightingale," and a local story called "The Story of Utahna and Red Eagle."

Here are some of the other things we've done so far:
Make up your own recipe. Jeremy made enchiladas with his own sauce for himself and me.
Bake a treat for someone. Jr. and Nichole made cinnamon rolls for the family. I made chocolate depression cake, a recipe from Budget Bytes, and added fresh cut strawberries on top of mine.
Build a castle out of LEGOs. Lucky's had hidden gold inside.
Take home activities. We made a hot air balloon and passport.
We celebrated Australia Picnic Day (a couple months early) with a water balloon fight and egg on spoon races.
We've also had plenty of fun singing songs and reading books. We even listened to a Hungarian song about Winnie-the-Pooh or Micimackó as they call him in Hungary. And we do more fun things every day.

So Busy, Even in Sickness

Poor sick kids but still so much going on.  Nichole had her first dance class of the season this evening.  I took her down and while she was there, I went to a certain place to look for a certain bird.  I didn't find that bird, but I did see some lovely Virginia rails.
After dance class we came home then Nichole and I headed out again to a friend's housewarming party.  We brought Princess Leia buns to share.  We stayed for a while then came home to trade places with Jeremy so he could head out to visit our friends.
Life is busy.

Star Wars Marathon

I realized one day that my kids don't know Star Wars well enough.  Sure, they play the LEGO game on the Wii, but I don't know that the two youngest have seen the original movies and it's been so long since the older two have seen them that they don't remember a lot.  So I did some planning, the kids helped, and today we had a Star Wars marathon.  Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.  We had made a list of themed foods to eat throughout the day, knowing that we wouldn't have all of them, but we could have a lot.  We were going to go shopping yesterday for supplies but I wasn't feeling the greatest so we made do with what we had.  A friend of mine let me borrow her Star Wars cookbook which gave me some more ideas.
So this is what we ended up having:
 "Sand"wich People
Princess Leia Buns (Cinnamon Rolls)
Yoda Soda
Cheese "Wedge"s
Pizza the Hutt (nod to the movie, Spaceballs)
Death Star Cheeseball
Blue Milk
Hoth Chocolate
Not bad for using the things we had on hand.  And the kids really enjoyed getting to watch all three movies.

Ack! Blogger Changed

I'm not always a fan of change.  I get used to something.  It changes.  So let's see if this works and if I can figure out how to still compose blog posts.  Wish me luck.

And a little something for you...
This morning, Nichole forgot her backpack at home.  Jeremy and Jr. had walked her to school and I got a phone call from Jeremy saying that Nichole had forgotten her backpack.  So I quickly got socks and a blanket on Jr. Jr., shoes on me, and headed out the door with her backpack and Jr. Jr. in my arms.  We met up with Jeremy and Jr. a couple minutes after Nichole went into class.  So by the time she got her backpack, it was only a few minutes into the school day.  Phew.
Anyway, after we left the school building, Jeremy suggested we go for a little walk- to walk a different way home.  That was nice.  As we were walking along, I mentioned, "But I didn't bring the camera."  We were going on a nice walk but I didn't have the camera to take pictures of the evergreen trees we passed and my cute boys being... cute.  Can you tell I'm a blogger?
So Jeremy suggested we take a picture with his phone then when we got home I could take a picture of the picture on the phone with the normal camera, just so I could write a blog post.  Yeah, we're silly.
So that's the story behind this picture:

And later Jr. and I made cinnamon rolls.  That is completely unrelated, except that as we were walking by the school, we could smell cinnamon (they were having cinnamon rolls at lunch) and I suggested he and I make them today.  So we did.
And I finally figured out how to get the grain mill to attach to our table for grinding wheat.  It didn't work very well on the table before.  Check out my post about how we used to try it.  Then I had it on the counter, but the only way it would stay secure was on the side right next to extra pantry cupboard thing and my knuckles would always hit while grinding.  But I've figured out how to get it to work on the table now so Hooray.

Anyway, yummy cinnamon rolls.  Jr. was a big helper.

Well, look at that.  I was able to write a whole blog post with photos and a link (and italics).  Not bad for this new format for me.  Although it will take some getting used to.
Now how will the comments work?  You'll have to comment so I can find out.
