Easter and General Conference Weekend

Easter fell on the Sunday of General Conference this year.
The Saturday of Conference, April 4, was Vitamin C Day so our Conference Nachos had green bell peppers and salsa and we drank juice with Vitamin C.
A sister from our ward stopped by between sessions and gave us some rice crispy treats as an Easter treat.
That Sunday, April 5, was Caramel Day so some family members had hot cocoa with caramel syrup in it.
There was plenty about Easter during General Conference. Wonderful talks.
I don't know how many times during Conference this time that a speaker would mention a piece of music in their talk (hymn or children's song) or read lyrics and immediately someone in our home would start humming it. Sometimes it was even me. I love that.
We love to emphasize the Savior on Easter Sunday then it's okay to have a little Easter Bunny fun the next day. We usually do an Easter egg hunt for FHE.
For our lesson, Jr. Jr. led us in one more scripture and thought for Holy Week. For our treat and activity, the kids hunted Easter eggs and we ate candy.
Earlier in the day, the boys cleaned and vacuumed the living room without being asked. Thank you, boys. By the time the Easter Bunny came, there were things all over. Eh, more places for the Easter Bunny to hide eggs. We didn't even bother to pick up a blanket that was on the floor. Eggs were just hidden there. Ha Ha. Nobody complained.
Since Monday, April 6, was Carbonara Day, that's what we had for dinner that night before the egg hunt.

The End of 2025

Yesterday, December 30, was Mercer Mayer's Birthday. We read some Mercer Mayer books.

For dinner we had carbonara for Bacon Day.

Sweet Jeremy brought roses home for me.

Today, I got out for my last morning walk of the year because... today is New Year's Eve.

Later I was "making guacamole. Making guacamole" for our New Year's nachos.
Jeremy got some writing in and had hot chocolate in the composition mug. How fun.
Now I'm too tired to write anymore myself so I'll see you next year. Or you'll see me next year since this is my blog.
Happy New Year!

General Conference October 2025

October 4 was Cinnamon Roll Day. I know some people make cinnamon rolls as a General Conference tradition but our traditional food is nachos. I made cinnamon rolls anyway because I like cinnamon rolls and I wanted to celebrate. Lucky frosted them. So helpful.
We also had nachos with fresh tomatoes and jalapenos from our garden!
Nichole made brownies for Saturday evening session which is also a tradition, but we had to eat them starting in the middle. That's how the tradition goes.
So we had some good food for Conference this time.

Other things we did:
General Conference snuggles
More dress up (that silly cutie)
A card game between sessions
I continued to work on those juggling balls that Jr. Jr. and I are making together
Several of us took notes and I definitely wrote down some things I want to work on with myself and in our home.
Another wonderful General Conference.

Spring Break 2025

Spring Break for the kids was from March 31-April 4 plus the weekends before and after.
Spring Break was, as often happens in Utah, a break from Spring. See our snow?

April 1 was April Fool's Day. I told everyone dinner was Fend For Yourselves but I did make "Kool-aid." It was actually Kool-aid. My family never knows from year to year if it's going to be Kool-aid or Jello. I made sure to use air quotes every time I mentioned it that day, though, so it added to "trick."

April 2 was National Walking Day. I made sure to get out for a walk by the lake that morning.
I walked around a playground later chasing after Jet. Lucky helped.
It was also Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. Yes, I did go around singing, "Peanut Butter Jelly Time." We had some peanut butter and jelly pretzel snacks. They're like the peanut butter pretzels but with a coating on the outside. Yumm.

April 4 was Walk Around Things Day. I walked around the store to get groceries and walked around the van to get the groceries.

April 5 and 6 were General Conference days. So good.
Jr. Jr. decided to make scones for everybody Saturday morning so with a little help from Dad, he did. He is a sweetie. They both are.
We had our traditional nachos, of course, and General Conference snuggles! April 5 was Love Our Children Day after all.
Saturday night we had our traditional Saturday evening session brownies. We had to start from the middle of course. Don't you love how traditions get started? This has been a tradition for more than 10 years. I blogged about the first time we did it on October 5, 2014.
General Conference wasn't all about food and snuggles. I tried to go in to it with very specific questions and listened for specific answers and I did. It was very personal some of the things the Lord let me know through the Spirit while listening to these speakers. I am so grateful.

Lucky got more service in during Spring Break. He twisted free balloon animals for people at the park.
He came with me one day to tie quilts for Humanitarian Aid.
He was fine. He just likes to make silly faces when I take his picture.

Lucky also made a bouquet of balloon flowers for a sister I minister to for her birthday. There was enough that she was able to separate the flowers for her family members. They enjoyed that.

There we go. Spring Break 2025.

Catching Up January 2025 part 1

We toasted in the New Year at midnight and had New Year's Nachos.

January 2 was National Buffet Day. I made dinner Fend For Yourself that night.
We also finally got out to donate to the Giving Machine right before it closed for the season. We donated "piglets," "art classes," "five visits and meals to a senior," and "empower through play."
We did not get a good family picture like we did in 2022 but that's not the point so... who cares?

I got out for morning walks before school started up again.

January 4 National Spaghetti Day. We ate spaghetti. It was also National Trivia Day and Utah's Birthday so we did some Utah trivia. It was also Play Outside Day (which is every first Saturday of the month). A few of us went out to see barn owls (and some other birds but we went specifically for the owls). When we got home we warmed up with hot chocolate.

We celebrated National Bird Day, January 5, a day early with the owl search, although we did eat chicken for dinner on the 5th. We watched The Big Year on Saturday as a family.

January 6 was Sherlock Holmes' Birthday. Lucky celebrated by going to "elementary" school the first day back after Christmas Break. I watched a TV show with a Sherlock Holmes character.
It was also National Cuddle Up Day and National Bean Day so you better believe we cuddled up while eating chocolate (which comes from beans)

January 7 was Old Rock Day and National Bobblehead Day so I got out to take pictures of Jr.'s bobblehead with mountains (old rocks). I haven't done that for a few years so it was fun to do it again.

January 8 was Elvis' Birthday. We watched Lilo and Stitch.

We started over with "A Season of Family Meal Plans," volume 1, by Jordan Page.
That's enough catch up for now.

After Christmas 2024

After Christmas we were all still sick. Most of December we were sick. Blah.
We did celebrate Stan Lee's birthday on December 28 with shawarma.
We had latkes and challah during Hanukkah.
I finished the adult reading program last minute on New Year's Eve. I earned a water bottle that says, "I read more in 2024."
I finished a year of "A Season of Family Meal Plans" by Jordan Page. I love those books.
We took apart our Christmas tree.
I got some morning walks in among the lights at City Center Park before the New Year.
We had New Year's Nachos.
