Some of our celebrations take planning and effort (like when we celebrated Talk Like a Pirate Day last year- that's coming up this month, too). And sometimes we celebrate by doing what we normally do.
Today, September 6, is Read a Book Day. Now we could have gotten creative with this one. We could have taken a trip to the library to pick up new books to read. We could have made our own books and traded them with each other to read. But we didn't. We had too much going on this evening and I was too busy during the day to put anything together. So we enjoyed wishing people "Happy Read a Book Day" and the kids read books before school, during school, after school, the same as they always do.
And do you know what? It was still enjoyable.
So Happy Read a Book Day, everyone. May you find plenty of reasons to celebrate, even if it is celebrating doing the things you always do. If it's pleasant and wholesome (like reading a book), it's definitely worth celebrating.
