Cheeseballs

When I wished Jeremy a Happy National Cheeseball Day on April 17, he texted me this picture.
He's a cheeseball.

Speaking of cheeseballs: in years past, Nichole has contributed short stories and artwork to UVU's Warp & Weave journal.
Jeremy and Nichole toyed with the idea of submitting pieces to Warp & Weave together and they did so this year. Jeremy submitted a short story and Nichole submitted a piece of art that went along with his story. They were both accepted so when we went to the event for them to get their copies of the journal, we found out that the picture was placed right after the story. Good job, editors.
We celebrated Blah Blah Blah Day while we were there.
Speaking of cheeseballs, earlier in the day, Nichole sculpted a cheeseball in the shape of a bat because April 17 is also Bat Appreciation Day. It's become tradition.

She also created this art piece for Bat Appreciation Day and International Haiku Poetry Day, also on the same day.

I love my girl and her talents. I also love my husband and his talents. I'm also happy to support them. I spent time with Jeremy's short story, helping him edit it (there was a word limit). I also gave them a ride and went to the event with them since I knew how to get there.

World Chipmunk Day

March 22 was World Chipmunk Day. While we were watching Seeking Persephone the night before, Nichole was working on this drawing of a chipmunk based off a photo she took of a chipmunk in Washington a few years ago.
I posted about it on Instagram/Facebook the day after because I didn't get around to it on National Goof Off Day, also March 22.
I also encouraged everyone to drink plenty of water on March 22, World Water Day.
Nichole is talented.

If You Give Nichole a Medium...

She will create a beautiful new painting...

In VR.
What?
And she won't be distracted by the faces you make behind her.

Our Vacation, Thy Creations, and Our Relations- Part 9

We had a couple relaxing days in Washington before Go Go Go again.

Church, resting, family time.
On July 7, we celebrated National Macaroni Day (with shells pasta, tee hee), World Chocolate Day with birthday cake because we also celebrated Nichole's Birthday, and Father Daughter Take a Walk Day. They got creative with that one. Heh Heh.

On July 8, we celebrated Video Game Day and National Blueberry Day. I forgot to wear my new video game shirt that day so I wore it a few days later.

The doll head continued to be found in various places.

It was nice to chill again.

I'll share more of our wonderful vacation later.

College Girl

She was a little girl when I started this blog (Jet's age). Then she grew up and went off to college.
We were not ready for her to go, literally and emotionally. I am so proud of her.

Jet is such a big helper to his sister.

I definitely cried the day we dropped her off at school. Little did I know she would come home almost every weekend after that. We just kept having things happen that she could be involved in- trips and activities. I am glad she lives so close. I lived 1 or 2 states away from my parents when I went off to college so it really is different.
I got pictures of the boys on their first day of school so I made Nichole send me a picture of her on her first day of school.
I love my girl!

More July Holidays

Let's jump into catching up on more July holidays.
July 7 was Father Daughter Take a Walk Day. Jeremy was not available that day so I took Nichole for a walk into a store to get hair stuff and makeup. Girl time. Woohoo.
It was also Macaroni Day so we had macaroni with our dinner.

July 10 was Teddy Bear Picnic Day. We had a picnic with teddy bears and non teddy bears on the living room floor. We made sure to invite Eeyore so he wouldn't be sad. Jr. picked a lovely location for us- Ordon Village.

We ate chicken patties for Cow Appreciation Day on July 11. Reminded us of a certain chicken place's advertising.

July 13 was Embrace Your Geekness Day. I like to call it Embrace Your Geek Day. I made sure to get a picture embracing Jeremy while wearing my Jurassic Park shirt.
The kids played chess with a Legend of Zelda Chess set.

July 14 was Mac & Cheese Day so we had shells and white cheddar and added macaroni.

It was also Shark Awareness Day. I bought gummi sharks for this holiday but forgot to get them out so we had them along with gummi worms on Gummi Worm Day, July 15.

We celebrated Nichole's birthday in July. We quickly turned the fan off before there was any candle... situation.

Graduation

My beautiful, amazing, talented, (not so) little girl graduated from high school. I'm so proud of her and for all she accomplished. She worked really hard and did amazing things her high school career. She kept her grades up including with advanced classes. I already mentioned that she composed two pieces of music that the orchestras played and she conducted. She and Jr. both played in the orchestra at graduation.
When we got home that night, she got to open up presents. Art stuff, of course, and gummi bears. Then she went off like such a big kid to her senior grad night with all the other big kids.*Sniff.*

She has also kept up with her scripture study and gospel learning. She is such a good example to us. This is basically what I shared with her Young Women class about Nichole:
We've always said she is the best oldest child for our family. From the time she was little, when she helped, she would tell us, "I'm a heper."
She continues to help (with four younger brothers including one rambunctious three year old, we definitely need the help) and has always been a good example to her brothers and us.
One time when she was little, I was frustrated with her and didn't know what to do and told her so. "I just don't know what to do." She told me, "Then pray, Mom." You can imagine she got a big hug for that.
She continues to be a good example to us with her daily scripture study, has a strong testimony, and really is an asset in our gospel discussions at home.
I will miss her when she does off to college but am grateful she will always be a part of our family.

She graduated from seminary as well as high school and I'm happy to see her testimony grow.

Rationalizing Birding

I mentioned in January that Nichole was taking digital photography again. She entered several (about
11) pictures in a photography show at the high school. She got honorable mention for a Photoshopped photo of her brother as fairies.

That picture and one she took of a burrowing owl were on display in the art hall for a while before the show.

Here are some of my other favorites from the photography show:

One morning, Jeremy and I took Nichole out to Manila Creek Pond. You know... so she could get some photos of Common loons and Caspian terns. We just happened to enjoy watching the birds, too. The terns are so fun to watch as they dive in to get fish in the pond. We were there early enough to hear the loons calling, too. I loved it.

There were also Canada geese and mergansers and mallards and cormorants and a killdeer I kept hearing and finally spotted.

The things we do to support our children.
