Cheeseballs

When I wished Jeremy a Happy National Cheeseball Day on April 17, he texted me this picture.
He's a cheeseball.

Speaking of cheeseballs: in years past, Nichole has contributed short stories and artwork to UVU's Warp & Weave journal.
Jeremy and Nichole toyed with the idea of submitting pieces to Warp & Weave together and they did so this year. Jeremy submitted a short story and Nichole submitted a piece of art that went along with his story. They were both accepted so when we went to the event for them to get their copies of the journal, we found out that the picture was placed right after the story. Good job, editors.
We celebrated Blah Blah Blah Day while we were there.
Speaking of cheeseballs, earlier in the day, Nichole sculpted a cheeseball in the shape of a bat because April 17 is also Bat Appreciation Day. It's become tradition.

She also created this art piece for Bat Appreciation Day and International Haiku Poetry Day, also on the same day.

I love my girl and her talents. I also love my husband and his talents. I'm also happy to support them. I spent time with Jeremy's short story, helping him edit it (there was a word limit). I also gave them a ride and went to the event with them since I knew how to get there.

Catching Up April 2025 part 2

April 12 was Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day and National Licorice Day. We celebrated by having both. We did have tomato soup with our sandwiches.

April 13 was National Peach Cobbler Day. Yes, I made some. I tried a different recipe that didn't use as much sugar. My peach cobbler loving child said he liked it so yay. Less sugar.
We had an at home potluck that evening. We haven't had one of those in while. Here are everyone's contributions from oldest to youngest: cookies, peach cobbler, pizza, pickles and cheese cubes, sparkling apple-grape, lemonade.
That day was also Palm Sunday. This year I tried to do a better job with celebrating Holy Week. The Church had some good resources for every day leading up to Easter. It was a good way to focus my scripture study.

April 14 was Look Up at the Sky Day. It was National Dolphin Day. It was International Laughter Day.
How did you celebrate?

April 15 was World Art Day. I went up Provo Canyon to get a look at a place that I think looks like a piece of art. When I was there on World Water Day, I got that impression so I wanted to enjoy it again.

Nichole sent me several art pieces she had to celebrate World Art Day.

I love that she uses different so many different mediums.

April 16 was Charlie Chaplin's Birthday. Who else puts rolls on their forks and makes them dance to celebrate?
P.S. It was also National Banana Day

April 17 was, in no particular order, Bat Appreciation Day, National Cheeseball Day, Blah Blah Blah Day, National Haiku Poetry Day, and National High Five Day.

This is what happens when I hand my daughter some seasoned cream cheese on these holidays.
This is what happens when I take seasoned cream cheese and ask my son what I should make.
Son: A penguin!
Me (after "sculpting"): I think it looks like a ghost.

Lucky was the one who let me know it was National High Five Day. I gave him a high five for that. Jeremy showed me a haiku or a few.
We had Blah Blah Blah for after school snack. Remember that? Apple slices with peanut butter and honey? Except lately we just use honey peanut butter instead of adding honey to regular peanut butter.

That evening I went to a Relief Society activity and learned a new skill: embroidery. I've done a lot of counted cross-stitching in my past so some of the stitches were similar but there were definitely some things for me to learn.

The next morning, I had to wipe snow off my vehicle. Note the snow covered hills across the lake. Ah, that "Spring" weather.

Family History Story

When I was a kid, we had bats that made their home in our attic. In the evenings, we kids would go outside and watch them come out and fly around. Bats are cool.
One night a bat escaped into the house through a hole in the kitchen ceiling. The timing was such that it was right in the middle of the family watching... Batman. The Tim Burton version (that was the Batman movie when I was a kid).
Ah, memories.
Recently I was going to watch that movie while doing menu planning (multi tasker here). Jet had different ideas. We're going to snuggle while watching, Mom.
On a different day, April 17, I started watching Batman Returns... for Bat Appreciation Day
It was also National Banana Day so there was banana eating.
It was also Blah Blah Blah Day. I think that's what my kids hear sometimes when I ask them to do things.
That day was also National Cheeseball Day. I made cheeseball and got it chilled in the fridge but forgot to get it out and shape it later that day so we didn't eat it until the next day. I never did shape it.
Here's another bit of family history but with my current family. One year Nichole shaped cheeseball like a bat to celebrate both holidays (National Cheeseball Day and Bat Appreciation Day). One of these years we just have to get her to shape a cheeseball like a haiku poem for Haiku Poetry Day, also on April 17. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.
Oh, I just looked it up that family history story of Nichole shaping the cheeseball to look like a bat. Ha Ha. That was just last year. My post about it was on June 10, 2023. And apparently, Jr. wrote a haiku poem about it. Heh Heh.

Blah Blah Blah Day 2023

Blah Blah Blah Day was April 17. I made sure to make apples with honey peanut butter for the kids. That's been a thing since 2014.

April 17 was also Haiku Poetry Day, National Cheeseball Day, and Bat Appreciation Day. Nichole shaped cheeseball to look like a bat and Jr. wrote a haiku about it (see previous post).

So cute.

How Was Your Date? Blah Blah Blah!

So much catching up to do. Wish me luck.

Jeremy and I went on a "date" to run errands together on Saturday, the 17th, just the two of us.

I went in the Orem Library for the first time in about a year and a half. One of the librarians took us to see the new library hall. Jeremy's seen it but I hadn't yet.
For dinner, Jr. made us grilled cheese sandwiches and I made us Blah Blah Blah for Blah Blah Blah Day on April 17.
Then Nichole made us cheeseball for National Cheeseball Day. I think she's become the designated cheeseball maker/sculpter. She made it in the shape of an acorn to celebrate that the book she's writing has officially reached the word count of a full length novel. Acorn is a reference to her book.
April 17 was also Bat Appreciation Day. Jeremy, Nichole, and I kept talking about the bat, Bartok, in the movie Anastasia.

Happy Easter Egg Hunt

April 17 is Blah Blah Blah Day.  With dinner we had what we call "Blah Blah Blah" which is apples with peanut butter and honey.  In fact, we had some "roasted peanuts and honey" peanut butter in our pantry so we used that.  Yumm.
After dinner we had our Easter Family Home Evening including an Easter egg hunt.  While waiting for Jeremy to help the Easter Bunny, the kids and I read books in the kids' room.  The suggestion from the Orem Library's reading activity calendar for today was to "listen to classical music today while you read to your child."  Jr. read to the little boys while I held the CD player and speakers.  We put on Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite" so the kids could hear "Morning Mood" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King."  That piece was a special request when we were talking about this activity coming up.
At dinner, Jr. Jr. suggested we save some of our carrots and put them out for the Easter Bunny.  That was so thoughtful of him.  During the hunt, Jr. Jr. noticed that the carrots had been eaten when he found one of his eggs in the bowl.
The kids had a good time but Lucky had a hard time opening his eggs.  This should be a good thing so he doesn't get into the candy too much, but he found he could open them by throwing them on the floor so they split open.  Unfortunately this meant that the candy scattered everywhere.  After a while, he allowed me to help him open them.
We had a good time this evening.

Blah Post

I should do a blog post, but I don't feel like it. I am tired. Instead this is now a blah post. BLAH.

If you want to know the holiday today you will have to figure it out yourself. Search for the clues. Make deductions. Seriously. It's elementary.

I shall continue regular blog posting tomorrow... or the next day.
