Some More April Celebrations

April 23 was National Picnic Day. We had picnic foods. Jet was feeling under the weather again so we didn't go out to a park to eat.
I completely forgot to get the potato salad out. Luckily Jeremy remembered when he got home so he was able to have some.

April 24 was Arbor Day. My sweetie and I enjoyed taking a picture with the tree in our front yard. I like trees. It's been fun to see the progress from buds to blossoms to leaves on the trees in the area. I don't spend as much time doing that in the Spring. It's usually just all of a sudden there are leaves on the trees.

That day was also Pigs in a Blanket Day. I often make pigs in a blanket on National Pig Day on March 1 because I like to recreate the scene from the Sandra Boynton and Michael Ford song, "Pig Island".
I didn't this year but I wanted to so I took the opportunity on Pigs in a Blanket Day. We had pigs in a blanket, peaches, and blue koolaid. We added some other things and that's okay. It's the thought that counts.

Jet wanted to help out with the pigs in a blanket. Since I was doing them in the air fryer which gets hot, he got to be my taste tester after they came out.

And of course, being the ham that he is, he was very happy when I took a picture of him doing this:
Have I mentioned I love my family?

Other October thins

Other things we did in October:
Nichole, our friend, and I went to support another friend at her faculty recital. She is a voice teacher at BYU. That was a beautiful event.

I was letting a blanket air dry and since it was a big blanket, I spread it across several chairs to create a fort. I thought Jet and I would read books like we've done in the past but Lucky used it for playing a video game and Jet sat on the outside of the fort in a chair while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas because... "this is Halloween."

Jet really wanted to have a lunch in his lunchbox so for dinner one night, I put his dinner in his lunchbox (it's okay, it was a sandwich, etc.) and we set out a picnic towel in the living room. Lucky requested watching The Mandalorian so the kids got to watch that while having their picnic. It's fun.

I wanted to play MarioKart one night (I don't always get to play video games) and Jet wanted to "help" me. It matters more to have fun time with my little one than to win the races. I love being a mom.

We continued trying recipes from A Season of Family Meal Plans by Jordan Page with substitutions and adaptations.
Woo hoo! Yay for October.

Catching Up April 2025 part 3

April 22 was Earth Day. I took a quick trip to Powell Slough to appreciate nature.
April 22 was also Jelly Bean Day. I stopped by BYU to bring Nichole some food to help her get through finals and jelly beans, of course.

April 23 was Shakespeare's Birthday. I started reading Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters based on Macbeth.
April 23 was also National Picnic Day. Dinner was make yourselves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, baby carrots, and apples because Jeremy and I were busy bringing Nichole home from college for the Summer.

April 24 was Pigs in a Blanket Day. Kids made pigs in a blanket, Thanks, kids.

Happy Anniversary... Months Later

We weren't able to do something extra special on or near our anniversary this year (though having our traditional anniversary dinner with our children is always special) so one day in August, Jeremy surprised me with our anniversary celebration. He took care of all the arrangements with the kids and did a good job making it a surprise. I had no idea.

He gently woke me up early that morning, had my clothes picked out for me to wear (it was a date, so of course he had my Jurassic Park shirt ready). He made me an omelette. I love his omelettes.
Then he drove us up Nebo Loop to one of our favorite birding spots up there.
We enjoyed a relaxing time there and I got my target life bird- red crossbill. There were four or five of those. Yippee!
We also had some nice closeups of other birds and critters.
There was a red breasted nuthatch that kept landing on branches right above our heads. Right above us. That was wonderful.
After we had a few hours of birding in that spot, we went up to Devil's Kitchen to picnic and enjoy the view. Jeremy surprised me again with our picnic food. Winco salads (it's our traditional date food, like my Jurassic Park shirt is my date shirt) and sodas in plastic goblets like we used for our anniversary picnic last year.
After Devil's Kitchen we headed to the Orem Library to do some writing/blogging. Sweet Jeremy, kept nodding off (he got up really early to make me that omelette) so we finally headed out to eat at Cafe Rio. Yumm.
Then we went home to take a nap because we were both exhausted.
We woke up later and gathered the children to go out for a late night meteor shower. They didn't take a nap so were all tired while we were out there.
That was a great way to end a wonderful anniversary celebration. Thank you, Jeremy, for the sweet memories and for being the best husband I could ask for.

More July Holidays

Let's jump into catching up on more July holidays.
July 7 was Father Daughter Take a Walk Day. Jeremy was not available that day so I took Nichole for a walk into a store to get hair stuff and makeup. Girl time. Woohoo.
It was also Macaroni Day so we had macaroni with our dinner.

July 10 was Teddy Bear Picnic Day. We had a picnic with teddy bears and non teddy bears on the living room floor. We made sure to invite Eeyore so he wouldn't be sad. Jr. picked a lovely location for us- Ordon Village.

We ate chicken patties for Cow Appreciation Day on July 11. Reminded us of a certain chicken place's advertising.

July 13 was Embrace Your Geekness Day. I like to call it Embrace Your Geek Day. I made sure to get a picture embracing Jeremy while wearing my Jurassic Park shirt.
The kids played chess with a Legend of Zelda Chess set.

July 14 was Mac & Cheese Day so we had shells and white cheddar and added macaroni.

It was also Shark Awareness Day. I bought gummi sharks for this holiday but forgot to get them out so we had them along with gummi worms on Gummi Worm Day, July 15.

We celebrated Nichole's birthday in July. We quickly turned the fan off before there was any candle... situation.
