The School Year Ends

We did it. We survived the school year. The last day of school for Jr., Jr. Jr., and Lucky, I was going around singing, "Today is the day. It's the last day of school. So many new things to learn and do... for Summer Reading!" Yeah. CoComelon is still a thing in our home (and I'm excited about Summer Reading). I did throw a little Finding Nemo in there and called out, "Last day of school! Last day of school!" when dropping Jr. off to perform in the end of the school year musical assembly.

I made last day of school breakfast burritos for everybody this year. Aren't I nice?
Jr. was so tired that morning.

I got pictures of the boys before school. It was a sunny morning.

And a quick picture of Lucky after school because we had to run back to the school because he was missing a couple things we never found. Sigh.
We survived.

Baby Cuteness

My baking buddy.
And cooking buddy?

Our new routine. I work on my blog while Jet watches CoComelon... and falls asleep.

What?

What's this bowl for?

Just hanging out, playing with these toys.

Exercising!

Just 5 more minutes, Mom.
Fine. I'll go but I don't have to like it.

Another day, he snuggled up to me and was asleep in about 10 seconds.
You can't see me. But I can see you.

Here I am.

Ready to go!

We're Thankful For... Jet

"When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way From your first bassinet to your last dying day."

My little baking buddy is such a blessing in our lives. Everyone in the family adores him and he loves us.

We had to spread his birthday out celebrating through a few different days this year because of schedules and sickness... again. But it was fun.

He's still learning the concept of present unwrapping (probably a good thing so he's not ripping into presents he shouldn't) but he was very happy with his Cocomelon stacking train when he got it unwrapped. He recognized the characters before he even finished taking the paper off the box.

Jet, you're great. I am so glad you are a part of our family. Happy Thanksgiving!

The School Year Begins

We survived the beginning of the school year. Yay, us. Normally I have Nemo in my head going, "First day of school! First day of school!" This year, however, I had Cocomelon in my head. The day before school started, I went around singing, "Tomorrow is the first day of school," then the day school started, "Today is the day. It's the first day of school."
The day before school started, the elementary schoolers got to meet their teachers. Lucky took his teacher an apple that was a Doctor Who reference since his teacher has a Doctor Who themed classroom. Oh yeah.

I forgot to get a picture of Jr. Jr. in his classroom but he was there and met his teacher. Sorry, Jr. Jr. We're excited for your year at school, too.
I did get first day of school pictures of my kids.
I was going through my checklist and saw that I needed to remember to take pictures so I got a picture of Nichole brushing her teeth and a picture of Jr. getting off his bed. Oh, and I took pictures of them outside before they headed off to school. I guess that works, too.
My cousin farther north took pictures of her kids on their first day of school and pointed out the hazy sky in the background from fires. I can do the same. See the hazy sky in the background from fires? I pointed it out.
Jet also got his picture taken when he and I took the boys to the bus.

I thought it was fun what they had set up to welcome the high schoolers back. There were cheerleaders cheering everyone on and the student body presidency welcoming them.

After everyone was gone to school, it was Mommy and Jet time. We drank smoothies, played and sang songs, and snuggled. Jet made messes and I tried to keep up with him.

The kids didn't have homework when they got home from school and they all did their chores so they got to celebrate the first day of school with video games. That plus it was I LOVE My Feet Day! so they played Mario games where they were running around and stomping on bad guys.
I never had my expected breakdown on the first day of school or the rest of the first week. I waited until the weekend.

National Junk Food Day 2021

Me: Happy Junk Food Day.
Nichole: Good. I had Nerds for breakfast.

Are you familiar with Cocomelon? It's for little kids. It's animated. They have lots of songs, nursery rhyme songs, and songs based on those tunes. Go do a search for it on YouTube.
Cocomelon has become a thing in my home with my toddler and my older kids of course will watch with him. Sometimes they just watch and sometimes they will point out how certain things are not entirely accurate or mistakes that were made. That's what happens when older kids watch little kid shows.
Anyway... one of the songs is about how Mommy or Daddy sneak to the kitchen in the middle of the night to eat junk food and the other parent catches them. The things they eat are pizza, ice cream, donuts, and candy. Finally the kids catch both parents in the kitchen eating junk food so they all eat carrots together at the end.
Of course my family is creative in celebrating so the kids suggested for National Junk Food Day on July 21 that we eat all the things from that video. We ate some of them but not all. I did make edible playdough to go along with a board game we played as a family that evening. We needed something for sculpting.
Creativity is fun. Family time is fun.
