Here's Some More Catching Up

May 13 was Leprechaun Day, Crouton Day, Fruit Cocktail Day, and Apple Pie Day. Guess what. We celebrated.
Ah, homemade croutons and homemade apple pie. Mmmmmm.

Besides given ourselves "gold" coins for Leprechaun Day, we also turned on Irish music and had some fun moving to the music.
Lucky decided to use his fruit to make a kebab. Why not?

May 14 was Dance Like a Chicken Day and Buttermilk Biscuit Day. We made Biscuits and "Gragy" from Shelf Cooking 101 by Jordan Page.
Of course we danced like chickens.

May 15 was Dinosaur Day, National Chocolate Chip Day, and International Day of Families. We had Dino nuggets and chocolate chip pancakes with our family.
I also got out for a walk that morning with a friend I haven't been able to do anything with for a while.

A Busy Weekend

Let me tell you about a busy weekend we had recently.
We're still trying to work on the UCB challenge so Lucky and I got out Saturday morning to Powell Slough Wildlife Management Area. Every time I go there I hear Virginia Rails. Jeremy saw one once while we were there but I missed it. Lucky and I did hear rails and one gave us a quick glimpse of it. Yippee!
Can you see it just peeking out in the center of the picture?

What was also fun but I wasn't expecting is that there were also soras who were out a bit more than the rails so we got better looks at them. Fun fun fun. I like birds.

Later Lucky and Nichole had a couple appointments, several of us went for a drive around the lake, then we went home and ate biscuits and gravy.

The next morning, Jet decided to be up with me really early in the morning while I put some final touches on my Relief Society lesson I was teaching later. I got a new calling- Relief Society teacher. That day was also the Primary Program and the kids were so cute as usual.

Some of us went for another drive around the lake that afternoon/evening. It was a beautiful evening.

Monday was Veteran's Day.

Holidays

I made croutons and apple pie and I opened up a can of fruit cocktail and put it in a bowl.

May 14 was Buttermilk Biscuit Day. I made Biscuits and "Gragy" from Shelf Cooking 101. Leftovers rounded it out.
It was also Dance Like a Chicken Day so one of my kids walked into my room dancing like a chicken. Have I mentioned I love my kids?

Peculiar Sunday Supper

Sunday, January 10 was Peculiar People Day. It was also National Sunday Supper Day. I had my peculiar people make supper that day.

Nichole made maple-cornmeal drop biscuits from our Little Women Cookbook. Thanks, Orem Library. She and I made bacon gravy to go with it. Jr. helped Lucky steam some broccoli. Jr. made peanut brittle. We may have had some other things but I can't remember.

Father's Day 2020

Father's Day morning I asked Jeremy what he wanted for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy. I finally got it to him around 5 or 6pm and made him dinner right after. Actually, Nichole and Jr. did most of the work on dinner. Everybody just kind of ate whatever earlier with sleeping in and church at home. Sigh. We really need to get on a better schedule.
The boys put together a puppet show for Jeremy, Lucky filled out a questionnaire and colored some pictures for him, and Jeremy and I both called our dads to wish them Happy Father's Day.
This is what Lucky had to say about his dad:

My Daddy
My Daddy's Name is Jereme
My Daddy is 42 years old
Dad's favourite thing to do is snugel wieth me [snuggle with me]
Dad is really good at sleeping
I love it when Dad dose joekcs [does jokes]
I like to do qussles with Daddy [do puzzles]
My Dad's favourite food is pikcels [pickles]
My Daddy loves me because i'm small
Dad is funny when he ets bugs [eats bugs]
My Dad is as strong as a bug
I love Daddy because hees dady [he's Daddy]

Eat What You Want

May 11 was Eat What You Want Day. I didn't get any pictures of the different types of food we ate. Basically when kids would come up to me and ask if they could have such and such to eat, I would reply, "Eat what you want... within reason." I didn't want them eating so much sugary stuff to make themselves sick.

I did get pictures of food we ate for National Crouton Day on May 13 (salad with croutons) which was also National Apple Pie Day (apple pie a la mode).

And I got pictures of the biscuits and gravy we ate for National Buttermilk Biscuit Day on May 14.
Jeremy had been wanting to make potato salad for a while and finally did that day, even though it had nothing to do with the holiday. It still tasted good.

I told you a lot of our celebrating revolves around the menu plan.

Celebrating With Beverages

May 3 was National Lemonade Day. Yeah I made some to go with our dinner.

May the 4th was National Orange Juice Day. Yeah, I made some to go with our dinner of biscuits and gravy. Yum.

Later, to celebrate Star Wars Day, Jeremy, Nichole, and I watched part of Captain America: Civil War. After I woke up after missing most of the best scene in the movie- the part at the airport, Nichole pointed out that we did celebrate Star Wars Day because Spider-man mentioned that really old movie, The Empire Strikes Back. Way to take notice, Nichole.

How To Eat Biscuits and Gravy

Jeremy:  You start by cutting your biscuit in half.

Children cut their biscuits in half.

Jeremy:  That's not exactly what I meant.  I was thinking more like this.
