First Days of School

I had both Nemo and CoComelon going in my head for the first days of school. Jr. went a day before everyone else again.
I got a picture of Jr. as he was about to the leave the van before going to where the cheerleaders and student council were cheering the students on about being back at school.
I also got a picture of him after school.

Jr. Jr. and Lucky got to meet their teachers that evening (I got pictures).

The boys helped decide what we'd have for the last dinner before the first day of school (for everyone). Yumm.

The next day I got a picture of all my students at once before school. Yay, me.
After school I got a picture of Jet who wanted to be like his siblings. So cute.

The School Year Ends

We did it. We survived the school year. The last day of school for Jr., Jr. Jr., and Lucky, I was going around singing, "Today is the day. It's the last day of school. So many new things to learn and do... for Summer Reading!" Yeah. CoComelon is still a thing in our home (and I'm excited about Summer Reading). I did throw a little Finding Nemo in there and called out, "Last day of school! Last day of school!" when dropping Jr. off to perform in the end of the school year musical assembly.

I made last day of school breakfast burritos for everybody this year. Aren't I nice?
Jr. was so tired that morning.

I got pictures of the boys before school. It was a sunny morning.

And a quick picture of Lucky after school because we had to run back to the school because he was missing a couple things we never found. Sigh.
We survived.

Snow Squall in Pictures

We got a snow squall warning on our phones and such yesterday. I had to ask, "What is a snow squall?" Jr. let me know it's basically a mini blizzard. Jeremy was driving home in low visibility but it gradually cleared and was pretty good from the point of the mountain until home.
I took pictures to show how fast it came and went at home.

6:24pm It was clear. It made me wonder if we would actually get anything. My niece's ward canceled FHE for the college students because of the warning and her friend stayed for dinner and FHE at my sister's house to ride it out.

6:55pm Here it comes. Wow. Look at the change in the sky from half an hour ago.

7:09pm Just about 15 minutes later. Whoa. Quite a bit coming down now and sticking.

7:28pm Gentle flakes coming down now.

7:52pm Less than half an hour later and the snowman is up. I guess that's a good indication that we shouldn't expect anything worse. Jr. said the snowman unmelted.

We didn't get too low of visibility at home. But we got a lot of snow in a short amount of time. A snow squall.

Another Day Off?

Since my day off didn't really work on Lazy Mom's Day, I decided I was going to try it again on Friday, September 24, Bluebird of Happiness Day. That ended up more of a lazy mom's day.
I had such plans for that day. Once we dropped kids off at school, Jet went back to sleep, though, so I couldn't do what was on the plan. I could have gotten so much done while he slept with cleaning and organizing but I watched a TV show instead and got nothing productive done (lazy mom).
After the kids got home from school, they knew they were in charge of dinner again, so Jet and I headed off to do at least something I was planning to do. I guess I was chasing that bluebird of happiness with a day off.
We went for a walk at Powell Lake but Jet didn't want to ride in the stroller and didn't always want to stay right by the stroller so there was a lot of running after him to keep him from falling down an embankment. I'd say the majority of the time was chasing after him so he'd be safe.

At one point it wasn't worth trying to make it all the way around the pond so we headed back. I didn't get a chance to look at the birds much. No bluebird of happiness. It took quite a bit of effort to get Jet back to the van and get him in and buckled and etc. etc. etc. Sigh.

We've had better outings. But hey, at least we got a few cute pictures in the van.
We drove home by way of driving around the lake. Jet fell asleep then woke up when we were about as far away from home as possible and was unhappy for a while. Plus we got stuck in construction traffic so it took even longer to get home with a poor uncomfortable baby. Sigh.
I found no bluebird of happiness while I was out. When I got home the kids were watching "Muppets Most Wanted" because September 24 was also Jim Henson's birthday. Nichole had her puppets out as well.
When Jeremy got home I went up to help him bring things in and we chatted with the neighbor for a little while until I saw something in the sky? "What are those?" They looked like something on fire. The neighbor looked up and said, "Oh, those are lanterns." We called the kids up and we all got to see floating lanterns in the sky. We got to see quite a few before they burned out/burned up. They must have been sending them off somewhere nearby for us to be able to see them so well, but for what purpose? I don't know.
So no bluebird of happiness but we saw floating lanterns at home. The End.

Cascade Springs... Again

Even though we didn't use Jr. Jr.'s National Parks Pass as much as we used Jr.'s when he was in 4th grade (it's the season), we did make sure to use it one last time before it expired just like we did with Jr.'s. How fun that the last time we used it to go to the place where we used it the first time. Cascade Springs.

Nichole and Jr. took turns with the camera and took lots and lots of pictures.

Jr. Jr.: Nichole, get a picture of the reflection.

Then Nichole had fun getting pictures of ripples.

The leaves were just starting to change color. Fall is on its way but it's not here quite yet.

While we were there, I asked that we get a picture of Jeremy and me together with the water in the background. I did my usual, standing on my toes while in a picture with my husband. Yes, I'm that short.
Apparently I forgot to ask Jeremy to look happy in the picture with me.
Yes, my husband makes me roll my eyes.
After getting a nice picture... finally... Jr. Jr. told us to take another picture because he wanted to do something in the background.

Our kids.
And my husband.
It was a nice trip but it wore everybody out. Sigh.

My mom texted that day to say, "Today is National Thoughtful Day. Just to let you know.👍💗😘"
I responded, "How thoughtful of you."
Somehow that one got missed on our calendar for August 28 so I appreciated her saying so.
