It's May!!!

We reached May 1. You know what that means?
Bridal Veil Falls is open! I made a quick stop that morning to check that the road really was open then three of my children went on a walk with me in the evening. We walked by the falls and all the way to Bridal Veil Park and back. I thought it would tucker out my youngest but he still had a lot of energy when we got home. Sigh.

May 2 was Baby Day. Lucky made "baby" pasta (small shells) and I have to share more cuteness from my youngest.
For dinner we had baby hot dogs (li'l smokies), baby muffins, baby carrots, and mini jalapeno popper egg rolls. Jet called the egg rolls "baby poppers" and decided since they were babies, to make up a lullaby to sing to them. He even cradled one in his hand to rock it while singing. He's so stinkin' adorable.

You know you live in a cool ward when the bishopric member who is conducting Sacrament Meeting mentions Star Wars Day over the pulpit and the sister sitting next to you in choir is wearing tie fighter earrings.
We drank orange juice.
Jr. Jr. gave me this piece of advice on International Respect for Chickens Day: Remember, Mom. Whenever you see a dancing chicken, make sure it doesn't have any carrots.

Tell me, please. Do you have a child as random or as awesome? Yes. He makes me laugh.

I made sweet and sour sauce from Shelf Cooking 101 by Jordan Page and put it on chicken with rice and pineapple and green bell pepper. It reminded me of when I was in college and there was this eating place called Teriyaki Stix and I would sometimes get their sweet and sour bowl with rice, chicken, pineapple, and green bell pepper. Yumm.

May the Fourth

Jeremy had a balloon gig with a Star Wars theme for May the Fourth
My brother and I wished each other, "May the Fourth be with you."
Simple celebrating this year.
We also had orange juice because May the Fourth was National Orange Juice Day.

May the Fourth Be With You

We had more things planned out for Star Wars Day but they didn't all work out. We did have Chicken Caesar Salad Wraps because Caesar was "the emperor." We made Porg Cheeseball. Jr. played Star Wars music on the cello for everyone when they came home. We also had orange juice for National Orange Juice Day.

Celebrations Without Pictures

Let me tell you about some recent celebrations without pictures. June 27 was Orange Blossom Day. June 28 was Paul Bunyan Day but I wrote it on the calendar wrong. I put it on June 27. Silly me. So we celebrated both of those holidays with orange juice and pancakes... or flapjacks. Jeremy and I of course quoted Groundhog Day. We were making orange juice... "and some flapjacks. Is it too early for flapjacks?" That's funny because it turned out it was early by a day. Ha Ha.
July 8 is Video Game Day. I didn't let the kids play video games because they didn't get all their chores done but I didn't put up a fuss when they watched Jeremy play. I just looked back at my blog from 2014 when Lucky was a baby. On Video Game Day that year, we listened to video game music. Guess what we did this year on Video Game Day. Listened to video game music. Nichole also played Legend of Zelda music on the violin.
So yeah. We've still been celebrating but I don't always get pictures of our celebrations.

Name Your Poison

June 8 was National Name Your Poison Day. We had breakfast for dinner and to drink, the kids could pick their poison... er… drink. Hot chocolate? Spiced apple cider? Orange juice? A combination? I'm pretty sure Jr. had orange juice in his hot chocolate.

Celebrating With Beverages

May 3 was National Lemonade Day. Yeah I made some to go with our dinner.

May the 4th was National Orange Juice Day. Yeah, I made some to go with our dinner of biscuits and gravy. Yum.

Later, to celebrate Star Wars Day, Jeremy, Nichole, and I watched part of Captain America: Civil War. After I woke up after missing most of the best scene in the movie- the part at the airport, Nichole pointed out that we did celebrate Star Wars Day because Spider-man mentioned that really old movie, The Empire Strikes Back. Way to take notice, Nichole.
