A Little September Catching Up

September!
September 1 was Johann Pachelbel's Birthday. I watched something with Pachelbel's Canon playing in the background.
It was also Labor Day so I got a selfie with the American flag

September 3 was Skyscraper Day. Nichole very obligingly took a picture of a 10 story building near where she was for me because I wasn't going to get out to see anything taller.

September 4 was National Wildlife Day. I took some time for myself to go for a drive and a little walk to see some Fall colors starting to turn and to look for birds. I saw some birds (nothing exciting), a squirrel, and lots of yellow jackets.

September 5 was Lazy Mom's Day. I tried to be lazy. I only succeeded a little. I decided to let myself sit down and watch a movie but of course I fell asleep during it. This was in the morning after the boys were off to school. I'm usually awake in the morning. Then again, I'm usually moving around and not being lazy in the morning.

More Fall Colors

Jet and I went for a drive up South Fork Road one day to look at the Fall colors up there. Gorgeous.
Happily, we were able to see turkeys on the road and to the side of the road. Love it.
It's fun when you have an excuse to stop and look at the birds because they're crossing the road in front of you.

Now It Is Fall!

September 22 was Hobbit Day. Jr. played LEGO Hobbit.
I wore my bow earrings to celebrate my sister's birthday.
The Autumnal Equinox/First Day of Fall was also on September 22. We didn't do anything except mention it.
The next day, however, Jet and I went for a drive up Kyhv Peak Road to see the beautiful Fall colors.
Gorgeous.
That day, September 23, was Great American Pot Pie Day. I made chicken pot pie and for Family Home Evening on National Family Day (also on the 23rd) we played Pictionary drawing by mouse on the computer.
Guess what the word was for this picture:

I yelled out, "Trogdor!" then calmly said, "Dragon," to get it right.

General Conference

The end of September and the beginning of October saw General Conference.
Saturday morning before the first session, Jr. Jr. and I went to watch the sunrise amid the Fall colors.
We had our General Conference Nachos and for the Saturday evening session, we had brownies and started eating them from the middle (it's tradition). The Food Nanny Zucchini Brownies.
General Conference was again great. President Nelson taught us to "Think Celestial!" There were definitely things for me to think about. I'm grateful for General Conference.

Halloween While Sick... Again

Then I got sick... again. I didn't feel up to doing anything except be sick for a couple days. Then I did just what was absolutely necessary the next couple days. Missed the Halloween parade at the elementary school again. Managed to get kids to and from school. Some of the kids took pictures of each other because I wasn't up to it.
When Jeremy came home from work, he took the elementary schoolers out trick or treating because Jet and I didn't feel up to going and the older kids decided not to go.
We didn't get a picture of Jeremy but he was dressed up as Waldo again.
Jet and I were sick people for Halloween. Although a different day, Jet decided to wear this Jedi robe to pick up kids from school. He looked good.

Nichole was a dragon tamer and her dragon, Ernest, was a pirate but he wasn't wearing his eyepatch by the time we got the picture.
Jr. was a magician and actually showed friends magic tricks at school.
Jr. Jr. was an alchemist. Remember when I got together for ladies' night and made some Halloween decorations- potions and elixirs? Jr. Jr. had plenty to say about what I made at the time. He took it farther and came up with his own concoctions which he put in a box to carry around- his box of alchemy supplies.
He was very creative with what he collected around the house and put together. He even got a contribution from "Dr. McCoy," (remember Halloween 2020?), a skeleton arm that had previously fallen off. And the creepy doll's head made an appearance in his box as well.

Lucky was the Eleventh Doctor because he wasn't able to do that costume last year, even though his teacher last year had a Doctor Who themed classroom. He was able to show his former teacher on Hallowen this year.
That's how Halloween went this year.
Unlike last year, I didn't get the chance to go one last time to Bridal Veil Falls to say goodbye until May. I didn't get a chance to do several things I wanted to do because of sickness. Oh well. That's life.
We did finally get the Fall colors down here in the valley, though. I love Fall colors.

Beautiful Fall Colors

One day Jet and I went for a drive up Provo Canyon. We drove up Squaw Peak Road and looked at the beautiful Fall colors.
And we stopped by Bridal Veil Falls.

Another day Nichole and I went for a drive up Provo Canyon. We hiked up to Upper Falls and looked at the beautiful Fall colors.
And we stopped by Bridal Veil Falls.

Another day the kids and I went for a drive up Provo Canyon. We hiked up Big Springs area and looked at the beautiful Fall colors.
And I stopped by Bridal Veil Falls... earlier that day.

General Conference

Nichole: I can't wait for General Conference.
Lucky: Me, too. Nachos... and learning stuff.

Jr. Jr. and I finally got our hiking trip in. Before the first session of General Conference, he and I headed up to Big Springs to hike. It was beautiful weather. There were turkeys, of course.

And the Fall colors? Mmm, I went to my happy place again.

We reached our goal destination then hurried back down and made it to the van before the first session of General Conference started. Yay.

Talk about the benefits of technology. Jr. Jr. and I listened to Conference on the radio during our drive home, then I listened to it on the internet on my phone while I was getting something to bring inside, then everyone was watching it on TV when I got inside. Woohoo. Love it.

We of course had our traditional General Conference Nachos both days.
For the Saturday evening general session, we made brownies which everybody got to eat at the same time since we all got to watch the session together. Woohoo. Yay for a general session on Saturday evening. They were thinking of just stopping having the Saturday evening session completely but I'm glad they changed it to having a general session.
By the way, we did start the brownies from the middle of the pan as is our tradition.

Sunday afternoon after the last session we thought we'd head up to Big Springs as a family, maybe take some family pictures. Apparently everyone else had the same idea. So much traffic. So many parked cars. We drove up South Fork Road, didn't even turn into the parking lot at Big Springs Park, but turned around and joined the long line of cars going down the road back to Provo Canyon, where we turned right instead of left so that when we turned around later, it was easier to be on the road already to join the long line of cars just past Bridal Veil Falls heading out of the canyon. Wow. I'm so glad Jr. Jr. and I were able to get out Saturday morning.
So no family pictures. But we found Waldo.

And Nichole found him another day at the library.
