Thanks for the Visit, Grandma and Grandpa

Our last day with Jeremy's parents here, I introduced them to the movie, Seeking Persephone. I had to get my April viewing in and my mother-in-law has similar tastes. Nichole was too busy with finals so she wasn't able to watch with us. First time not watching it together (we've watched it and introduced it to new people every month since December). My mother-in-law liked it.
After we watched it, Jeremy's parents took us out for lunch at a restaurant we'd been wanting to try for years but hadn't yet. Milagros. It's in Orem by Winco so we pass it all the time.
I enjoyed the experience. The food was yummy and the company was great.

That night after we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa, the kids and I opened up a bag of jellybeans to celebrate Jelly Bean Day, April 22.

It was also Earth Day so Lucky kept joking about there being earth flavored/dirt flavored jelly beans. I had to explain that these weren't Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. Starburst Jellybeans are our favorite kind of jellybean.

O.K. Here's something I dealt with that night. Looking at the packaging, Jellybeans is one word but Jelly Bean Day is two words (well three but the Jelly Bean in Jelly Bean Day is two words).
Can anyone explain that? It's been bothering me.

Catching Up April 2025 part 3

April 22 was Earth Day. I took a quick trip to Powell Slough to appreciate nature.
April 22 was also Jelly Bean Day. I stopped by BYU to bring Nichole some food to help her get through finals and jelly beans, of course.

April 23 was Shakespeare's Birthday. I started reading Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters based on Macbeth.
April 23 was also National Picnic Day. Dinner was make yourselves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, baby carrots, and apples because Jeremy and I were busy bringing Nichole home from college for the Summer.

April 24 was Pigs in a Blanket Day. Kids made pigs in a blanket, Thanks, kids.

More April Holidays

We ate chicken nuggets for Tuna Rights Day on April 21. Nichole likened it to cows trying to get people to eat chicken.

On Earth Day, April 22, Jr. and Jr. Jr. helped with the city's Spring Cleanup for our neighborhood.
I did not get a picture of Nichole and Jr. wearing their Earth Day shirts.

We ate some picnic foods for dinner on National Picnic Day, April 23.

On National Telephone Day, April 25, we ate honey "graham" ice cream because Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. And Blue"Bell" is a brand of ice cream.

Jr. Jr. brought home some pretzels to eat on National Pretzel Day, April 26.

The kids started watching Going Postal on April 28, Terry Pratchett's Birthday.

Earth Day 2022

Jet really wanted to get out so he and I went out for a drive in Provo Canyon while the kids were in school. It was a rainy day but the rain made things so fresh. I got out at one spot and the birds were very vocal. It was so nice.

It was nice to enjoy our beautiful world on Earth Day, April 22.
Speaking of birds, Jr. submitted a bird photo to the Earth Day contest at school again this year and won third place. Nice, Jr.
Woodhouse's Scrub Jay

And I kept with tradition and got a picture of Nichole and Jr. with their Earth Day shirts. To compare, here are pictures from the last couple years, as well.
2020, 2021, and 2022
Jr. loves to see how much taller he's getting while Nichole has slowed down on her height growth.

Some April Catch Up

So much catching up to do. Wish me luck.

After all the birding fun we had that one weekend, we stayed closer to home after that... at least for a few days.

Tuesday, April 20, was Cheddar Fries Day. I made a cheddar cheese sauce and put it on fries. Jet preferred cheddar cheese and fries. But mostly the cheese.

Wednesday, April 21, I went to visit Jeremy as he was building balloon sculptures for Thanksgiving Point's Tulip Festival. He and I also got to present in a Zoom meeting with a friend from our former ward. She had us talk about balloon sculpting, how we got started, what challenges and rewards there are, etc. It was nice.

Thursday, April 22, was Earth Day. We compared Nichole and Jr. in their shirts they won last year in the Earth Day contest at the junior high- last year and this year.
The kids had some running around time outside... including Jet. Nichole had the camera out to take pictures of birds and ended up taking more pictures of Jet.

April 22 was also Jelly Bean Day. We had some fun and used jelly beans as playing pieces for a "Sorry!" type game. Anytime someone's piece got knocked off, they got to eat it. Then they got a new jelly bean on the board. That was pretty fun. I also feel somewhat proud of myself for putting plastic wrap on the board since we were putting "food" on it.

Friday, April 23, was National Picnic Day. While preparing, I told everyone to get a bag of chips to go in their bag for dinner. Jr. Jr. came out with this bag of "chips."
Then he came out with a huge bag of tortilla chips. Yep, he's definitely our child.
The weather wasn't as cold this time so the kids and I went to a park and had a decent picnic then had fun running around for a while playing frisbee and with a ball.

April 23 was also Cherry Cheesecake Day but I didn't get around to making cheesecake, even though I bought a mix from a box. I made it the next day, though, so we celebrated Cherry Cheesecake Day Observed.

We also celebrated Pigs in a Blanket Day Saturday because that holiday was actually on April 24.

Sunday, April 25, was Telephone Day so we called Jeremy's parents. It was also World Penguin Day so we ate more fish sticks.

Earth Day Contest

For Earth Day, the junior high offered a contest for Earth Day related artwork or essays, etc.
Nichole and Jr. both submitted photos/artwork online and both earned prizes- T-shirts, water bottles, candy, pencils, mini globes, and tote bags. The prizes were dropped off on the doorstep so they could maintain social distancing.

Here's what they got prizes for:
Jr. photo of a pine grosbeak.

Nichole photos of snowy egret and belted kingfisher and dragonfly.

Nichole drawing of American pipit.

Way to go, kids. Keep up the good work with your talents.
