Self Discovery

I realized something about myself on National Vanilla Pudding Day, May 22. I don't like vanilla pudding on its own. I need something to dip in it, whether it be fish sticks (but I didn't feel like digging them out of the back of the freezer) or graham crackers (which I did feel like digging out of the pantry). Jr. Jr. made the pudding.
I think it's vanilla flavored things in general. I must have toppings on vanilla ice cream and while a couple of my children are happy with plain vanilla yogurt, I would rather dress mine up with frozen berries mixed in and a granola bar crumbled up on top.

May 22 was also National Solitaire Day. Nichole took the opportunity to get out a deck of cards and play a game of Solitaire. For some reason she didn't go for my idea that we all play a nice big family game of Solitaire together.

The KAT's Meow

I was singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" while I was doing dishes.  Jr. Jr. heard me sing, "If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow, why, oh why can't I?"  He started to explain to me that I can't because I can't.  It's obvious to the 5-year old that I can't fly so why would I ask such a question.

Jr. Jr. - Dad can I have some vanilla yogurt?
Dad.- Yes, just let me see what we have. (Opens refrigerator and pulls out yogurt)
Jr. Jr.- I'll just have the rest of it in that container.
Dad.- This is an unopened container, you are not going to eat all of it.
Jr. Jr.- But, it's for true love!

I Want You To Be Happy

You know how some days are just off.  Sigh.  Sometimes we're just grumpy.  Yesterday, March 3, was I Want You To Be Happy Day.  Part of the day was happy, part of it was not.  Maybe it was the change in weather.
March comes in like a lion?
Oh well.
I did make Jr. Jr. happy when I let him do something he wanted to do (and he spent most of the day doing it).  He told me he had a good idea for an activity to do.  He wanted to play with penguins in the ice water again like he did on Penguin Awareness Day.  At first I told him the pan wasn't available but I was able to wash it later and he was soooooo happy about it.
This time he got to play with a bunch of toys, not just the antarctic animals.
Lucky was able to join in for a little while, too.  They were both happy.  That made me happy.
Lucky was also happy because he got to feed himself his favorite food- yogurt.

Now I'm back to being not so happy.  Sigh.  I cut my finger so it's hard to type.  Today, March 4, is National Dance the Waltz Day.  There was a little bit of dancing going on.
Last year, Jr. Jr. thought it was Dance the Wall Day.  He's so cute.

I'm going to stop typing now.  My finger hurts more.

What I Did Today

Before

During

Getting There

After

After After

Nichole and Jr. decided since I cleaned their room and they didn't help very much, they would let me take a break and make dinner for me.

While the water was heating up, they provided some dancing entertainment for me, as well.  So cute.

They made soup and didn't want me to get a recipe out for them to use.  They would put healthy stuff in it, which meant a lot of seasonings (although they did take my suggestion of putting some vegetables and ham in there), but mostly salty seasonings.
It was a little too seasoned for our liking.  I did set a good example, and ate my whole bowl (if only the kids would do that with my well seasoned dishes).  I didn't make the kids eat theirs.
Jr. Jr. woke up from a nap right before we ate, but he would not touch the soup.  So he had yogurt.  Then the rest of us had yogurt, too.

The kids' room still has a lot of work to do with reorganizing certain parts of it, but at least the floor is cleaned up.  I was grouchy most of the day with the kids, but they sure cheered me up with their volunteering to make dinner.  They are really good kids, we just all have some organizational things to work on.  Sigh.
