Other October thins

Other things we did in October:
Nichole, our friend, and I went to support another friend at her faculty recital. She is a voice teacher at BYU. That was a beautiful event.

I was letting a blanket air dry and since it was a big blanket, I spread it across several chairs to create a fort. I thought Jet and I would read books like we've done in the past but Lucky used it for playing a video game and Jet sat on the outside of the fort in a chair while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas because... "this is Halloween."

Jet really wanted to have a lunch in his lunchbox so for dinner one night, I put his dinner in his lunchbox (it's okay, it was a sandwich, etc.) and we set out a picnic towel in the living room. Lucky requested watching The Mandalorian so the kids got to watch that while having their picnic. It's fun.

I wanted to play MarioKart one night (I don't always get to play video games) and Jet wanted to "help" me. It matters more to have fun time with my little one than to win the races. I love being a mom.

We continued trying recipes from A Season of Family Meal Plans by Jordan Page with substitutions and adaptations.
Woo hoo! Yay for October.

Celebrating Other Than Holidays in March

There were opportunities to support and cheer on family members in March.
Lucky had a 3rd grade concert at school and he did a great job.

The elementary school had a read-a-thon that was Harry Potter themed. The students tried to read the most minutes possible. Jr. Jr.'s "house" got the most minutes of the school and won the "house cup."
Lucky got one of the highest amounts of minutes in his grade.
Jeremy, Jet, and I went to school with Jr. Jr. and Lucky one morning for "Parents and Pastries" to listen to a storyteller and have breakfast.

Lucky participated in Battle of the Books. His team made it to the final battles and got second place overall. He got his first trophy! He also got a book for being in the finals. For reading all 20 books, he got a box of candy and another book. And earlier, all the students who participated got a box of candy.
I know he worked hard on this and it paid off. I got to go to four of his five original battles and Jet and I went to his final battle.

I was going to support Nichole by going to see her get an outstanding student award at school but I ended up sick that day so I couldn't go. She was understanding. She is such a sweet girl. Her orchestra teacher nominated her and had this to say, that she "has been a consistent example of hard work, dedication, and quiet service through her three years at Orem High. She notices things that need to be done and goes about making a difference without any request or expectation of acknowledgement." Way to go, Nichole.

The kids supported me a few times by coming on drives with me. The boys were content if they got to bring devices. Nichole and I got to chat. One day she and Jet and I went for a walk while the boys hung out in the van.

Another day we drove into Provo Canyon and were able to see where avalanches were.
That second picture is Bridal Veil Falls. There was an avalanche back in January. This picture was taken while driving by in March. I'll talk more about it and share more pictures when I catch up on May. Stay tuned... for a while. Let's just say it's now June and the road down by Bridal Veil Falls is still closed (it usually opens the beginning of May).

Jeremy got me a present. The kids wanted me to open it so Lucky tried to hurry me through eating my food so I would open it sooner.
It was a comfy hoodie. Jeremy has a matching one but in a different color (and size). They are so comfortable.

March was busy and chaos and exhausting. But we made it through. Go, Telfords!

Catching Up- Supporting Family and Friends

Wow.  It's been five months.  I guess it's about time I started catching up.  That and it's Summertime and there's so much going on, I don't want to be soooooo far behind again. So here is a blog post I started back in February.  Let's see what was happening then:

Wow.  We've had a busy few days.  Lots going on.  Here's some of it:
I helped Jeremy build and deliver Booster the Rocket, the mascot of Imagine Learning in Provo.  Lucky helped as well. While Lucky and I were bringing things into the building, my phone rang.  It was one of my boys at school worried about something and wondering if I could check on him at school.
While I was on the phone I heard someone call my name.  It was a friend who worked there. I always look for her when we go there and I was glad to see her there this time. She ran up and gave me a quick hug while I had the phone up to my ear in one hand and the other arm was full of balloons and gear. I appreciated the hug even if I couldn't hug her back very well or even talk to her.
My poor boy on the phone was worried about something and wanted me to come and see if I thought he needed to be picked up or if he could handle staying at school for the rest of the school day.  The wonderful lady in the office was able to explain things on the phone and help me to know that he should be able to make it through the rest of the school day (by the time I was able to check on him, it would have been almost the end of the school day anyway and Jeremy would be stuck until I could come back to get him since he couldn't leave until Booster was completely set up).
My son was fine the rest of the school day and when I checked him after he got home from school he was fine, too.  It's a good thing because after setting up Booster, we went straight to Nichole's school, and made it just on time to watch her and another student play a duet. I'm so glad we didn't miss it.  It was lovely.
The next day, in keeping with busyness and supporting family and friends, I got a chance to have some quiet time at the Provo Library.  I had some books to pick up so I spent a couple hours writing while I was there.  Thank you, Jeremy and Lucky.  I needed that.
After school the boys had parent-teacher conferences. Awesome kids. Their teachers agree.
Then Jeremy and I had a little date.  We headed down to BYU to support our friend, Nathan Williams. He had a reception for his thesis art show that night. Wow. It was nice to talk with him about his work.  And he certainly put a lot of work into this.
On the way back from the reception, Jeremy dropped me off at our church building where there was a Relief Society activity about food and food preparation and food storage and all sorts of food related things.  And there was food to eat.  Yumm.

There.  I did it. Done. Now to write new posts about what's been going on the last five months.
