Some More April Celebrations

April 23 was National Picnic Day. We had picnic foods. Jet was feeling under the weather again so we didn't go out to a park to eat.
I completely forgot to get the potato salad out. Luckily Jeremy remembered when he got home so he was able to have some.

April 24 was Arbor Day. My sweetie and I enjoyed taking a picture with the tree in our front yard. I like trees. It's been fun to see the progress from buds to blossoms to leaves on the trees in the area. I don't spend as much time doing that in the Spring. It's usually just all of a sudden there are leaves on the trees.

That day was also Pigs in a Blanket Day. I often make pigs in a blanket on National Pig Day on March 1 because I like to recreate the scene from the Sandra Boynton and Michael Ford song, "Pig Island".
I didn't this year but I wanted to so I took the opportunity on Pigs in a Blanket Day. We had pigs in a blanket, peaches, and blue koolaid. We added some other things and that's okay. It's the thought that counts.

Jet wanted to help out with the pigs in a blanket. Since I was doing them in the air fryer which gets hot, he got to be my taste tester after they came out.

And of course, being the ham that he is, he was very happy when I took a picture of him doing this:
Have I mentioned I love my family?

Perfect Date

April 25 was Arbor Day. I went for a walk in a place with trees... and birds. I got to see a couple of spotted sandpipers and killdeer. So many killdeer.
It was a beautiful birding morning.

April 25 was also Perfect Date Day because, "it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket." Jeremy and I went on a date. We stopped by the library to pick up Miss Congeniality (which we never got around to watching) and went to Deer Creek Reservoir to eat dinner in the van and look for loons.
We found one that Jeremy named Claire. Think about that for a moment? Classical music fans?
Claire the Loon.
The weather was just right for wearing our light jackets.

At home the kids ate fish sticks and watched The Super Mario Bros. Movie for National Plumbers Day, World Penguin Day, and National Telephone Day, all on April 25.

Some More April Catch Up

So much catching up to do. Wish me luck.

Monday, April 27, was Babe Ruth Day. We had a little snack of Baby Ruth candy bars (even though Baby Ruth candy bars have absolutely nothing to do with the baseball player, Babe Ruth). Here's a fun picture of the baby with the Baby Ruth. He didn't get any, though.

Tuesday, April 28, was Great Poetry Reading Day. Jr. read a poem in a book then the other kids started reciting "The Jabberwocky."
Nichole (while holding a bag of Parmesan cheese): It's kind of hard to recite poetry when at the same time you're reading, "Shredded cheese the way it's meant to be," over and over again.

End of April- Springtime. Outside time. Time for playing with sidewalk chalk
and going for walks at the park, especially at a park with a lot of trees on Arbor Day, April 30.

P.S. Baby ducklings are sooooo cute. Spring!

Arbor Day 2012

April 27 is Arbor Day this year.  Nichole learned about the Butterfly Life Cycle in school (click on the picture to see it bigger).

So cute.

She learned how to make leaves at school for the pasta to go on.  Since leaves grow on trees, she wanted to show us how to make leaves at home.  So she and Jr. drew leaves and decorated them with glitter glue.

 So cute.

Oh, and our avocado pits are starting to crack.  Maybe we will get avocado trees from them.  Who knows?
So cute.
