Mother's Day 2026

I feel like this Mother's Day, some of the celebrating was spread out over a few days.
A few days before Mother's Day, Jet brought home a card he made at school.
Friday, Jeremy brought me Mother's Day flowers with a card. I love my husband.
Sunday, Jeremy made me breakfast.
Jr. Jr. drew a picture for me.
See. She's holding 5 eggs. I have 5 children.

I got to teach a short Relief Society lesson then we had muffins and yogurt and fruit and socializing for the women.
When Jeremy was going to take most of the kids home (Lucky stayed with me for choir), Jet seatbelted a Mother's Day card in so it would be protected.
Lucky gave me a card, a candy rose, and two pictures taken by high school photography students. Awww. I love them.

Jeremy gave me a present- a portable selfie stick tripod. I used it when I FaceTimed my mom for Mother's Day- hands free use of my phone. Although I picked it up and pointed it at different family members plenty. Tee Hee.
Later, I found Timothy, the banana slug, using the wrapping paper for a home. Have I mentioned I love my family?
I got to rest and spend some time looking at Jeremy's latest book.
I didn't have to make dinner. Jeremy fixed it for us. It was a hit with the family.
Jet entertained me using his Spidey powers.
I told everyone for Mother's Day, I wanted them to play D&D. They hadn't in a while and I knew Jr. was waiting very patiently to play again. The others couldn't play video games because it was the last day of Screen Free Week so they didn't have a good excuse not to. Bwah ha ha ha.
Jr. made chocolate chip cookies.
On Monday, I found out I missed a present from Jet in his backpack. He decorated a keychain for me.
Awwww.
I enjoyed my Mother's Day(s) this year.
I love my family.

Breakfast and a Movie

To celebrate The Sheriffs of Savage Wells movie coming out the beginning of this month (based on the book by Sarah M. Eden), my husband, daughter, and I had an "American West" breakfast with recipes from the book, Whisk Me Away (by Michelle Wright), which also has quotes from The Sheriffs of Savage Wells book.
We ate Crustless Quiche, Biscuits with Raspberry Honey Butter, and to drink we had White Lightning Moonshine (Sweet Tea). Read the "Sheriffs" book or watch the movie (or both) to learn the origin of that drink.
As we ate, we watched The Sheriffs of Savage Wells movie. I laughed so much and got so giddy seeing the quirky characters from the book on screen.

Even More Bonding Time

I was all ready to when Jeremy called for family prayer that morning. However, his phone got bumped to "Do Not Disturb" so my texts never got to him saying we were ready. I eventually had to call him and he didn't think to answer the phone that way. Oh well.
The only other phone call I got that day was from the elementary school and I intentionally did NOT answer like Buddy the Elf because I knew they weren't calling for something fun. Sigh.
The kids and I did watch the movie, "Elf" (I stayed awake for the whole thing- Gasp). I even made spaghetti and got out the rest of the ingredients needed for a Buddy the Elf breakfast for dinner. Nobody was in the mood for all that sugary stuff, though. I don't blame them. What did sound good was me taking leftover homemade teriyaki sauce, cutting up veggies, adding some rotisserie chicken, and cooking them up together to have some nice teriyaki chicken to go with the spaghetti.
I was prepared, though, and throughout the next day, people did have some Buddy the Elf breakfast from time to time.
Jr. created a beautiful masterpiece. It sure "looked" pretty.
Speaking of masterpieces, Jr. Jr. brought home a beautiful ornament he made at school... and cookies.

Memorial Day and More

Memorial Day. May 26.
Hot air balloon sighting, Memorial Day neighborhood breakfast, and American flag selfie.
May 28 was National Hamburger Day. We ate taco salad.
It was also Whooping Crane Day. When Jet and I were out driving (I was driving. He was in his own seat), we were stopped in traffic and we saw a crane. I told him it was not like the bird crane. It was a construction crane. It can lift things up high and move them around.

Memorial Day 2024

Memorial Day this year on May 27 was also Grape Popsicle Day. Lucky saved a purple popsicle he had to eat on that day.
The kids and I went to a Memorial Day breakfast that morning and made sure to get some American flag selfies. It's a good thing we did because later we missed Flag Day on June 14. Too busy.
That afternoon, my parents came for a brief visit then whisked Jr. away with them. They did the same thing with Nichole back in 2019. They took Jr. and one of his cousins to spend about a week with them in Oregon. He had a good time.
We celebrated Jr. leaving with S'mores made with giant marshmallows. Bwah ha ha ha.

Mother's Day 2024

Jeremy asked me what I wanted for dinner for Mother's Day. I told him I didn't want to have to make decisions. I menu plan all the time. I didn't want to this time.
Mother's Day morning I found that Jeremy and Lucky made me breakfast. Lucky made those origami hearts. Sweethearts.
Lucky had my phone during Sacrament Meeting so he could draw me this note (after the card he already made at the service activity a few days before). Sweetheart.
For dinner, Jeremy made Skillet Chicken Parmegiana, which I love, veggies on the side, and more colored flavored sugar water.
Ooh ooh, do you know what I just noticed? Skillet Chicken Parmigiana is apparently not an uncommon dish to make for Mother's Day. Jeremy made it for me in 2020. He also made it for me in 2013.

Jeremy and Lucky made colored flowers out of napkins for me. Sweethearts.
I'm going to be honest. Sometimes Mother's Day is rough. I often feel inadequate even though I've been doing this parenting thing for many years. This year was fine. I think I got all my emotional-ness over with the week before. Sigh.

Other Things that Happened in June

We didn't just celebrate holidays in June. Here are some of the other things we did.
There was a neighborhood breakfast with games and food.

Lucky learned a new skill- making roses out of napkins. He made a whole lot, which I didn't mind because we had a huge package of napkins from the store so we weren't running out. And they looked cute.

There was lots of chess playing.

Annual Jugglers' Barbecue. It was so good to be around performers again.

Jr. Jr. and another boy got to give a lesson in Young Men. They worked on their lesson in our house. I appreciated seeing the time and effort they put into it.

We went to visit friends we hadn't seen in a few years. The kids had no problem playing with each other again. We, adults, had a great conversations.

The boys got some well needed haircuts. He are some before and after shots.

Lucky wanted me to cut off a huge chunk of the front of his hair. So I did. Then he wanted me to leave it that way. So I did. For several days. He wanted to go out in public like that. So we did.

The things I do for my kids.

Eventually I was able to give him a decent haircut.

I think Lucky's going through a grumpy face stage. He's not unhappy, he just wants to look that way for pictures. Sigh.
I took him and Jet to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point while the older kids were at Youth Camp and he looked grumpy again while riding a horse.
Besides riding a real horse, Jet wanted to ride every fake animal he could find. Lucky got involved with that with him.
Later Jet got to milk a real cow and Lucky got a squished penny.
And of course, Jet got to slide on the slide again.

I got a picture of all three of the older kids before they went off to Youth Camp but only a picture of Jr. when he got back. They all came back in different vehicles. Two of them got dropped off at home and one I picked up from the church.
Nichole crocheted a cat for her secret sister. She just sat down and crocheted it. No pattern. Just created it. That's talent.

Other things:
Jr. is learning to drive.

We had some fun with balloons. Jeremy had several sculptures to build so I delivered some so he could keep building.
Lucky got to use leftover balloons to make his own creations.

We got some of those balloon perks again. Jeremy brought home Chick-fil-a sandwiches for us after one event.
Another night he "crashed" Marcus's neighborhood barbecue to make balloon animals for the kids. It was a pleasant surprise. His wife sent Jeremy home with hamburgers. Yummmm.

Lots going on but I'm glad I'm finally getting around to catching up.
