Smoothie!

Sometimes I get hormonal. It's true. PMS is a thing.
Sometimes I get so hormonal that it reminds me of pregnancy hormones- the irrational way I felt at times during pregnancy. Cravings, crying at the drop of a hat, grumpiness. I am not pregnant, though.
One day, I figured out I was hormonal. I explained to my husband I was craving a smoothie so much to the point of feeling like crying. I was trying to figure out how to make a smoothie without yogurt because we didn't have any.
My sweet husband drove to the store and bought me yogurt and bananas so I could have a berry smoothie because we did have berries in the freezer.
My sweet husband. I didn't ask him to do that. I didn't expect him to do that. He's just that wonderful.
Marriage is give and take. Jeremy and I definitely support each other in different ways and we are grateful to each other for how we do support one another.
I always hope that our children learn from our examples (the good examples because we have our weaknesses, too).
Jet has many times when he wants to be helpful. When it's time to bring groceries down, he runs to grab his shoes to carry or help carry items.
He also loves one on one time. When Jeremy went to get yogurt and bananas (and some other things we needed), he asked Jet if he wanted to go with him. Jet jumped at the chance. He was a big helper and enjoyed his time with Dad. He did get a special treat as well.
Earlier that day, we needed to get the windshield on our red car replaced. Jet and I went to pick up Jeremy after he dropped off the car and when we went to pick up the car later, Jet really wanted to ride in the car with Jeremy so he did. He enjoys bonding time.
I won't complain when I get my morning snuggles.
All of our children enjoy one on one time with their parents. I'll tell you later about some of the other kids' recent bonding time with Jeremy.

Here I go again starting with a blog post about how I got a smoothie I'd been craving and then continuing on talking about other things. Well, this is me.

By the way, that smoothie took care of that craving.

The School Year Begins

We survived the beginning of the school year. Yay, us. Normally I have Nemo in my head going, "First day of school! First day of school!" This year, however, I had Cocomelon in my head. The day before school started, I went around singing, "Tomorrow is the first day of school," then the day school started, "Today is the day. It's the first day of school."
The day before school started, the elementary schoolers got to meet their teachers. Lucky took his teacher an apple that was a Doctor Who reference since his teacher has a Doctor Who themed classroom. Oh yeah.

I forgot to get a picture of Jr. Jr. in his classroom but he was there and met his teacher. Sorry, Jr. Jr. We're excited for your year at school, too.
I did get first day of school pictures of my kids.
I was going through my checklist and saw that I needed to remember to take pictures so I got a picture of Nichole brushing her teeth and a picture of Jr. getting off his bed. Oh, and I took pictures of them outside before they headed off to school. I guess that works, too.
My cousin farther north took pictures of her kids on their first day of school and pointed out the hazy sky in the background from fires. I can do the same. See the hazy sky in the background from fires? I pointed it out.
Jet also got his picture taken when he and I took the boys to the bus.

I thought it was fun what they had set up to welcome the high schoolers back. There were cheerleaders cheering everyone on and the student body presidency welcoming them.

After everyone was gone to school, it was Mommy and Jet time. We drank smoothies, played and sang songs, and snuggled. Jet made messes and I tried to keep up with him.

The kids didn't have homework when they got home from school and they all did their chores so they got to celebrate the first day of school with video games. That plus it was I LOVE My Feet Day! so they played Mario games where they were running around and stomping on bad guys.
I never had my expected breakdown on the first day of school or the rest of the first week. I waited until the weekend.

Don't Forget the Peanut Butter

January 24 was National Peanut Butter Day. For dinner I made pancakes upon which we could put peanut butter and raspberry syrup. I may have been the only one who actually used peanut butter. Sigh.
Earlier in the day, I finally made a smoothie because I finally found the time. It's been a while but I really wanted one. I got the blender out and started putting in ingredients. I got the frozen berries in there. I got the bananas in there. I got yogurt and milk in there. I blended it all up and tasted it but I couldn't figure out why it didn't taste how I wanted it to taste. I explained it to Jeremy and he asked, "Don't you usually put a little peanut butter in there?" Oh ho ho. On Peanut Butter Day, too. Silly me. I put the peanut butter in and all was well.

Slumber Party!

Friday night.  General Conference in the morning.  Great time for a slumber party!
The kids made pizza, from making the dough to putting on the toppings.  I only helped with a few things.
While I was helping with those few things, the kids got to play Wii and computer games.
Nichole brought home a smoothie recipe from Activity Days that she wanted to try out, so she and Jr. made smoothies (with just a little help from me again).
Then we all sat down to eat pizza and drink smoothies while watching a movie.
The kids stayed up way too late, made me regret letting them stay up again, and are just now settling down.  Let this be a lesson to me.  The next time we do a slumber party, lights out has to be at the normal time.

On a side note, April 4th is Walk Around Things Day, and since the Thanksgiving Point Gardens opened up last weekend for the season, that's what Jeremy, Jr. Jr., Lucky, and I walked around today.  It was wonderful.

Jr. Jr. has a thing about waterfalls right now, so he got really excited when there were so many waterfalls to walk around.

Now to get some sleep before I fall asleep at the keyboard.  Happy Conference Weekend.
