July 27 is National Sleepy Head Day in Finland. We wanted to celebrate this year. We warned all the kids to get a decent night's sleep because whoever was the last one in bed asleep would wake up to water on them. (In Finland, they actually throw people into the sea or a lake).
Unfortunately, this got one of our children so worried, he couldn't sleep. I had to sit down with him and explain that what we did would just be fun. We wouldn't pour a cupful of water over anyone (we wouldn't want to get the beds wet anyway, and more important is our children). We would just take a squirt bottle and gently spray a mist over the person. Our celebrations are supposed to be fun, not stressful.
Another child said he was going to stay in bed so he would be the one to get wet, however the next morning, he was actually the first one up. Sigh.
That morning, the two youngest practically leaped out of bed when we told them it was time to wake up. It turned out the last one asleep was Jet. No, we did not get him wet. We let him sleep.
Later, the boys had a water fight to celebrate. That worked.
