"Reverence Is More Than Just Quietly Sitting"

We got a package that came in a nice sized box for playing in. 

One night, Lucky decided to play in it but it became time to have family prayer. I reminded him several times that it was time for prayer and I couldn't figure out why he wasn't coming out. He was being so quiet, I knew he could hear me.

I said, "I think you'll be more reverent if you come out of the box." His reply? "I'm folding my arms." Ha Ha Ha Ha. That's why he was so quiet. We explained that it is more reverent actually out of the box.

For Anyone Else, about General Conference

Another great day of General Conference.  More wonderful talks and things I needed to hear.

Jeremy made scones for breakfast and snacking on throughout the day.

The boys took the opportunity during one of the choir songs to reverently dance around.

After Conference was over, Nichole shared a story she made up with characters she drew and cut out of cardboard. 

Unfortunately, I didn't hear the end of the story as I fell asleep.  I didn't fall asleep during any of the sessions, though.

We will be cleaning the living room tomorrow.

The Reverence Tent was put away soon after I was rudely awakened by it landing on my head.  That is not the way I wanted to end my nap.

Jr. and I got along today (except for the brief moment with the tent).

I do love these times spent with my family.

Reverence Tent, Day 2

The kids got to use the reverence tent again for the Sunday sessions of General Conference. I found them in there before the first session, reading books.

Then Daddy made breakfast for us to enjoy during the first session. Omelets, toast (with homemade wheat bread), and hot chocolate. Yumm. The kids got to eat in the reverence tent because they promised to be really careful and not spill... and because we put our big beach towel on the bottom to catch any spills that might happen (they didn't spill by the way).

And like the day before, they migrated out of the tent. This time it was to play with their Sacrament Meeting Quiet books I'd been working on. The books worked pretty well. It kept the kids busy and I could enjoy Conference while crafting (while the baby was asleep).

Reverence Tent

As we were preparing for General Conference, the kids and I found this story from the October 2008 Friend. We decided to use Jr.'s play tent from Grandma and Grandpa as a reverence tent for Nichole and Jr. to use during Conference.

They were so excited about it. I let them put snacks in there and coloring pages and notebooks to "take notes." They started out the first session in there and gradually migrated to other areas of the room.

Jr. has been practicing recognizing the 1st Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostles, so he loved seeing the men he knew giving talks.
