Groundhog Day 2011

Our family has the tradition every Groundhog Day of watching the Bill Murray movie and eating imitation groundhog burgers (hamburgers). Except every once in a while we will eat groundhog burgers (ground pork or sausage- get it? ground "hog").
Anyway, this year Jr. helped Daddy make french fries to go with our burgers. Daddy peeled and sliced the potatoes and Jr. put them in sugar water to soak.

Daddy decided to give the groundhog burgers eyes (olives on toothpicks). When Jr. saw them, he immediately exclaimed, "Crab burgers!" That's what they looked like to him.

Later, when he had some marshmallows, Jr. ate his olives and replaced the eyes.

While Jeremy was making the parents' burgers, he ran out of olives.

Well, now we know the reason the groundhog didn't see his shadow today.

  1. "I had groundhog for lunch. Tasted like chicken."
We watched it, too. Such a great film.

  2. I'm so glad we own it. It really is a tradition to watch it on or around February 2 every year. And Jeremy and I totally quote it or say the lines along with the characters.
