Babysitters

May 9 was National Babysitter's Day. We gave the kids a chance to celebrate this holiday while Jeremy and I went on a real date. It was a Saturday so we didn't have a lot of school to contend with (just some schoolwork). Jeremy and I left Jet with his siblings and went on a picnic in the front yard. We did this to celebrate our anniversary.
We weren't going to go out to a restaurant to eat or to any other heavily populated area. We wanted some time for just the two of us but didn't want to go too far away from the baby so this worked out well. Especially when as soon as we set out the items from the picnic basket, we got a text from the kids saying, "Sorry but Jet just squirted." Pause the date. I went in to change the baby's diaper and handed him back happily to his siblings. Then back to the front lawn again to my date.
It was nice. There are some gifts we got from our wedding that only lasted so long (things do break, after all) and some gifts we still use all these years later.
This picnic towel was given to us by cousins and aunt at a bridal shower and we use it all the time. The picnic basket was given to us from my best high school friend at our reception and we love to use it on picnics.
Thank you for the gifts that have been so useful for so many years. Thank you, Jeremy, for the nice date. And thanks to the kids for babysitting their baby brother. This is the first time we've had children old enough to babysit their actual baby sibling.
Later, the kids watched Tangled "because it's about quarantine" and we ate our traditional anniversary dinner with our children.
