Hot Chocolate Without the Brussels Sprouts

We didn't have any Brussels Sprouts so I made Sheet Pan Sausage and Veggies (from A Season of Family Meal Plans, volume 1) with other vegetables instead. Yumm. Good with Brussels Sprouts. Good without.
Later on, I went to sleep while others in the family had hot chocolate. I obviously didn't get pictures because I was asleep.

My friend, Stephanie, sent me Hot Chocolate Day greetings and a picture of hot chocolate she enjoyed that day. She knows how to celebrate, too.

Earlier in the day, Lucky went to a friend's birthday party. He helped Jeremy build a balloon sculpture for his friend. His friend had a really good, "Whoah!" reaction when Lucky got to the party. Heh Heh.

World Tapas Day 2022

June 16 was World Tapas Day. What are tapas? I asked that same question when I saw that this was one of the holidays.
Tapas are Spanish appetizers. It's become common to put several together or make adaptations to make a meal out of tapas. So that's what we did to celebrate.

Since June 16 was also Fresh Veggies Day, we had lettuce on the side. The food was a hit and I ended up making the tomato bread again a few days later.

It was also World Sea Turtle Day so I took a picture of Nichole wearing her sea turtle shirt.

Thanksgiving 2021

Thanksgiving was on November 25. Because Jeremy had to work part of the day, I did more with the turkey than I'd done before.

I did more with the vegetable platter than I'd done before, too. I got the idea from a friend who put on a little Thanksgiving dinner for the younger boys earlier in November.

Jet slept while the rest of us ate so when he woke, he was ready to eat.

We, as usual, had great conversation over the dinner table. Unfortunately we have colds again so besides the good conversation, there was also a lot of coughing at the dinner table.

And Jeremy brought home a huge pumpkin pie from work.

So that was Thanksgiving 2021.

National Leftovers Day was on November 26.

Then Jeremy went on a trip to another fair convention and listened to The Grateful Dead on National Electric Guitar Day, November 27. I had to put this in here since it didn't fit with future posts.

More About Christmas

Yesterday I did a quick blog post about Christmas. Here's a little more detail.

For #LightTheWorld we went around the dinner table telling what we love about each other. That was really nice. We did our Christmas Eve program where we recorded ourselves telling about our year, read our last scripture for our advent calendar, and shared our testimonies with each other. Then the kids opened pajamas from Grandma and Grandpa (I opened pajama bottoms from Jeremy) and changed into them to sleep in.

The boys left veggies out for Santa because we didn't make cookies. It's that kind of year.

Speaking of that kind of year, I tried to get a picture of all of us Christmas Eve. The only picture I got of everyone looking at the camera with a nice look on their face was out of focus. Oh, well. 2020.

The next morning while we opened presents we did a video call with Jeremy's parents so they could "be there" with us. I called my parents later on in the day to wish them a Happy Christmas. It was a relaxing day.

The day after Christmas continued to be relaxing. Jeremy and I did take a quick drive with Jet into Provo Canyon, up South Fork Road, since December 26 is Wren Day. We didn't see any birds (except for one that flitted up the side of the road that I couldn't identify), just some deer.

So there you go.

P.S. Lucky mentioned how he liked how last year the kids decorated their own bookmarks that I then wrapped for them for Christmas. I got out cardstock strips and crayons and let the kids decorate some again this year which made Lucky happy. I did make them rice warmers, though, as well.
