Celebrating Other Than Holidays in March

There were opportunities to support and cheer on family members in March.
Lucky had a 3rd grade concert at school and he did a great job.

The elementary school had a read-a-thon that was Harry Potter themed. The students tried to read the most minutes possible. Jr. Jr.'s "house" got the most minutes of the school and won the "house cup."
Lucky got one of the highest amounts of minutes in his grade.
Jeremy, Jet, and I went to school with Jr. Jr. and Lucky one morning for "Parents and Pastries" to listen to a storyteller and have breakfast.

Lucky participated in Battle of the Books. His team made it to the final battles and got second place overall. He got his first trophy! He also got a book for being in the finals. For reading all 20 books, he got a box of candy and another book. And earlier, all the students who participated got a box of candy.
I know he worked hard on this and it paid off. I got to go to four of his five original battles and Jet and I went to his final battle.

I was going to support Nichole by going to see her get an outstanding student award at school but I ended up sick that day so I couldn't go. She was understanding. She is such a sweet girl. Her orchestra teacher nominated her and had this to say, that she "has been a consistent example of hard work, dedication, and quiet service through her three years at Orem High. She notices things that need to be done and goes about making a difference without any request or expectation of acknowledgement." Way to go, Nichole.

The kids supported me a few times by coming on drives with me. The boys were content if they got to bring devices. Nichole and I got to chat. One day she and Jet and I went for a walk while the boys hung out in the van.

Another day we drove into Provo Canyon and were able to see where avalanches were.
That second picture is Bridal Veil Falls. There was an avalanche back in January. This picture was taken while driving by in March. I'll talk more about it and share more pictures when I catch up on May. Stay tuned... for a while. Let's just say it's now June and the road down by Bridal Veil Falls is still closed (it usually opens the beginning of May).

Jeremy got me a present. The kids wanted me to open it so Lucky tried to hurry me through eating my food so I would open it sooner.
It was a comfy hoodie. Jeremy has a matching one but in a different color (and size). They are so comfortable.

March was busy and chaos and exhausting. But we made it through. Go, Telfords!

Change in Weather

Yesterday, Jeremy, Lucky, Jr. Jr., and I went up to Big Springs for Jr. Jr. to collect some leaves for homework.
The boys had so much fun looking at different types of leaves and throwing sticks and leaves into water whenever we crossed a bridge.  The boys and I even played Pooh Sticks a few times.  There was one spot where the water was nice and slow moving under a bridge.  That was a great spot for Pooh Sticks.
I enjoyed going on a beautiful hike.  I love nature.  We turned around when we reached a meadow.  Jr. Jr. thought that was the greatest thing- to hike all the way to a meadow.  So cute.

It was a lovely day and lovely weather.
This morning we woke up to snow.
There was a bit off and on all day, but luckily not enough to make driving to dance class scary.  Jeremy took the littlest boys with him to take Nichole to dance class while Jr. and I went to an awards night at the school.  Nichole won an award of excellence for a dragon she sewed.  That was the school project she had been working on on Reptile Awareness Day.  Jr. accepted the award for her- the certificate, the coupon, the M&Ms, and the trophy.  What a good brother.  He and I also got to bring her dragon home.  Congratulations, Nichole.  On to the next level of competition for this project.
Here's a better picture of her finished dragon.  I didn't have the best lighting tonight.

Oh, and I made homemade bread since November 17 is Homemade Bread Day.  I can't believe I almost forgot to mention that.

One of Those Busy Days

Jr. Jr. has been in need of a Mommy-Jr. Jr. date so we scheduled one for today.  We went out to a park, fed the ducks, played on the playground, and played in the sand.  Jr. Jr. had me getting my exercise by making pits in the sand and instructing me to jump over the pits and run around to certain areas.

At one point, Daddy and Lucky crashed our date.  O.K.  They didn't actually crash our date.  They were out doing there own outing and after they went to a different park to feed the ducks there, they came to the park we were at.  Jr. Jr. enjoyed having Lucky there to play on the playground with him for a while.  Lucky continued to play on the playground while Jr. Jr. and I had a snack and Daddy watched Lucky and took pictures of birds... and us.
After a while, Daddy and Lucky went home and Jr. Jr. and I stayed at the park for a while longer.  It was fun.
Then this afternoon, Nichole and Jr. both came home from school with medals and trophies.  They both competed in this year's Battle of the Books.  Nichole's team won 2nd place for 5th and 6th graders and Jr.'s team won 1st place for 3rd and 4th graders (Nichole has a 1st place trophy from when her team won in 3rd grade).

This evening after having our dinner of waffles (since March 25 is International Waffle Day), we all went to see a movie at the elementary school.  They were showing the newest Chipmunk movie so we had a nice family movie night at the school.  They had concessions there, too, so Daddy got the kids popcorn and capri suns.  That was a fun activity and all the kids did a good job while we were there (including the 2-year old).  Yay.

It was quite a day.
And now we have so much more going on this weekend and next week.  Busy Busy.  Wish us luck.
