Christmas Apparel

Jr. Jr.: Why are you wearing that?
Me: It's Christmasy. Doesn't it look festive?
Jr. Jr.: It looks like you decided to have a party and dress up weird for it.

Mall Time with Mommy

Yesterday I wanted to get out, so Lucky and I went to the Provo Towne Centre mall to go up and down escalators, race coins down a hole, and play in the play area.
I pointed out different places in the mall and told him stories.  "Daddy used to work in a store that was in this spot."  "Daddy and Mommy used to make balloon animals on New Year's Eve on one of these bridges."  "I used to ride the bus here when I was in college to do some shopping."  And Lucky showed me the colored tiles he likes to dance on.
Good bonding time.

Today, January 31, is Backwards Day.  For breakfast we had spaghetti and salad (what we would normally have for dinner).

Lucky decided to wear his clothes backwards.  Jr. Jr. decided that for Backwards Day, he was going to wear his shirt frontwards since he often wears his shirts backwards.

Jr. wrote his name on his lunch backwards so you could read it the right way in the mirror.

While the kids were in school, Lucky and I took a trip to the Provo Library to explore.  It's been many years since I was a patron of that library.  I had more stories to tell Lucky (like yesterday's mall stories).  "This is where Nichole learned to crawl up and down steps when she was really little."
"Like this?"

At one point we were walking down a set of stairs when Lucky just stopped.  He told me, "I'm on an escalator."  Ha Ha Ha.  But it wasn't moving.

Ah, that's better.
After our library trip, we went to the mall again to play some more.

Later in the day, we had cereal for dinner (Backwards Day).

Nichole and I went to the Orem Library even later to pick up some books and for Nichole to fill out a goal sheet in the teen section about wanting to read 30 new books.  We picked out a few while we were there.

It was quite the Backwards Day.  Lucky was really cute walking backwards down the ramp from the parking lot to the library.  It was fun to celebrate.

What We Did While Organizing

We recently went through the kids' clothes deciding what was too small and what could be handed down to younger siblings or packed away for future use.
Lucky found a whole bunch of bibs in his drawer that we don't use anymore and thought to have some fun so he put as many as possible around his neck.  It was pretty impressive.
He is a big helper.

Donating Clothes

"Jesus taught us to clothe the naked and you can help."  For LIGHTtheWORLD today, Lucky and I sorted through clothes and donated a bunch to D.I.  Lucky had so much fun looking at clothes and saying, "We should give this to people to wear."  Such a sweetheart.

This evening while Nichole and I were working on a project for her for school,
Jeremy took the boys to walk around the lights at Riverwoods.

National Splurge Day 2016

June 18 is National Splurge Day.  We bought Winco pizza for dinner.  It was a good idea since we spent a lot of the afternoon shopping for necessities- shoes and socks and various articles of clothing since kids grow out of things.  We didn't have a lot of time for making a big dinner.  Jeremy did cook corn on the cob for us, though.

The KAT's Meow

Jr.:  I don't want to get dressed with other people around.
Mommy:  You can take your clothes and get dressed in the bathroom.
Jr.:  I want to get dressed in here where it's not too squishy.

Jr. Jr.:  Mom, you are beautiful and nice.
Mom:  Yes, I am beautiful and nice.
Jr. Jr.:  And you are not like evil Mommy.

Kiss and Make Up Day

August 25 is Kiss and Make Up Day.  At dinner, Jeremy and I kissed and then Jeremy said something totally random.  Then we kissed again and he said something else totally random.  Then I got it so I kissed him again.  Every time we kissed he would make something up.  Kiss and "make up."  The kids thought it was hilarious and provided quite the entertainment.  Jeremy's really clever with making things up on the spot.
Today was also National Second-hand Wardrobe Day.  To celebrate, Jr. wore some clothes to school that a friend had given him recently.  Thanks, friend, for helping him celebrate.

Captain Orange Veggies Fudge

June 16.
Captain Picard Day.  We didn't watch any Star Trek, but Jeremy and I joked about telling the kids to "make it so" when they wanted to help with things.

National Fudge Day.  The kids did help me make fudge.  The recipe came from the June/July 2015 issue of FamilyFun Magazine.  Creamsicle Fudge.  Yum.  Oh, and I just realized something.  The recipe says to refrigerate the fudge for the final time before eating it.  I put it in the freezer.  Maybe that's why the pieces came out of the pan like this.
Oh well.  I just put the rest of it in the fridge and maybe it will be easier to get out in the morning.  Still tastes great, though.  Also, the recipe says to take it all out of the pan before cutting it into pieces and I only wanted to take a few pieces out for pictures.  That's fine, though.

No Orange Clothes Day.  None of us wore orange clothes.  Although 3 of us wore red shirts, which is more of a nod to the classic Star Trek series than Next Generation.

Fresh Veggies Day.  I made sure we had fresh carrot sticks and celery sticks to go with dinner.

Buckle Down and Get to Work?

I had very good intentions to buckle down and get to work. I even wore my "buckle down and get to work clothes." Unfortunately my body said, "No, you're going to have a cold instead." Jr. Jr. got a cold, too, and had vaccinations which made him uncomfortable and clingy. So even when I felt like doing things, it was hard. Oh well. That's life, isn't it?
Jeremy was sweet and asked if he could get something for me. I asked for tea. My adorable husband. This is what he brought me.

I thanked him and clarified that I would like some herbal tea, which he made for me while I ate the bread. I'm glad that even when I'm sick, I still have my sense of humor.

Ouch!

Watch out 'cause this little boy is looking sharp.
