Supporting Our Children

I support my children. I go to plays, concerts, take them around places they need to go. I do what I can when I can. My husband is the same way. So when our children say they need to go birding for a school assignment? Well, it's important that we support them.
I mean, our children have won awards in the past for bird pictures they've taken. So, yeah, birding is worth it.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Actually we're open to any excuse to go birding. Nichole had to create a project for her Biology class. She decided to go to a few different places, documenting the birds she saw, and write a paper about it. She chooses birding! I love it.
And it's good bonding time. Jeremy took her twice. I took her once.

Snails and Towels

May 24 was Escargot Day. I finally took a picture of a couple snails that have been sticking around (pun intended) for a while. Why the small one decided to crawl on the larger one's back, I don't know.

May 25 was Towel Day and Brown Bag It Day. Lucky took lunch to school in a brown bag. We used towels a lot. Nichole watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy while doing dishes which were dried with towels. I repeatedly told the kids, "Don't panic."

The last couple years we've had picnics at dinnertime with brown bags for these holidays. This year the boys, Jeremy, and I went to a barbecue instead. We ate food, the younger boys played games, it was enjoyable.

Jet decided on the way out it was fun to splash in a puddle he found. It's a good thing we had a towel with us.

Before we went to the barbecue, however, Jr. showed me what happened in biology. Apparently, he won the encounters contest in two categories. He had the most invertebrates and plants. So taking him to the park was worth it as was visiting the Butterfly Biosphere and all the other things we did to help him.
He was happy to get a new shirt as well as a couple of gift cards. Well done, Jr. He worked hard for those.

After Screen Free Week

So... short sleeves and sunburn on Saturday, snow on Monday.

But we tried out a new recipe. Zucchini Brownies from The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner Again. They don't require any eggs. Yay. Because egg prices are getting so high right now because chickens are getting avian flu.
I showed Lucky an easy way of doing a quick frosting/topping for brownies. After they come out of the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top. If they need a couple more minutes in the oven to start melting the chocolate, go for it. Then spread them out on top.
Lucky decided to take the knife and make a brick design in it. It was fun.

Tuesday was still long sleeves weather but no snow. Jr. Jr. got to practice bike riding some more while Jr. gathered more "encounters" for biology class. He's trying to get the most in certain categories, like when Nichole got the most birds when she took that class. They didn't have a separate category for birds this year.

Wednesday, May 11, was Eat What You Want Day
You want ice cream. Sure. You want a mint. Sure. I happened to heat up a couple cans of chili and made garlic bread if anybody wants. But whatever. Eat what you want.
