...She makes a dragon out of homemade playdough.
She's come a long way in her sculpting since she made a sleeping giant for National Play-doh Day in September of 2013. The sculpture class she took last semester probably helped.Saturday, May 7, 2022

Sometimes Dinnertime is... Fun?
I made Panda Express Kung Pao Chicken and noticed the chili peppers looked like slugs as they cooked.
Mom: There's a reason it's called kung pow.
Jr.: The spinosaurus is cleaning up. Can you clean up like the spinosaurus?
The stegosaurus started cleaning up.
Jr.: See. This is why the spinosaurus is a carnivore. It's much less messy.

You Know You're a Birder If...
You drive around the high school parking lot following a crow that is close enough to get pictures with a cell phone camera.
Great job with the pictures, Nichole.
You know you're a birder if... you see a bird across an intersection and it has a certain look to it so you drive around the block several times to find out it's a kestrel.

Mom Is Old
Jr.: Jr. Jr., do you know why Mom is so short? Because over the centuries she's shrunk.
Jr. Jr.: Don't get rid of those clothes. What if you have another baby?
Me: I don't know if that's going to happen.
Jr. Jr.: But people have babies throughout their lives.
Me: Actually, women can't have babies after they get to a certain age.
Jr. Jr.: Oh, and you're waaaay past that age.
Lucky: Wow, you're going to be even older when you're a grandma.
Mom: Yeah, older than I am right now, thank goodness.
Lucky: Because you're a thousand years old. Older than the pyramids.
Mom: I think I've watched all the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies in the theater since the first one came out in 1993.
Jr.: When you were 80?

Blueberry Pie
I did it! I deviated from my usual apple pie and made a blueberry pie to celebrate National Blueberry Pie Day on April 28. I don't think I ever made blueberry pie before that. Yay, me!
And it turns out it was simpler than apple pie since I used frozen blueberries and I didn't have to peel or cut apples. Yumm.
It was also Terry Pratchett's birthday so the kids convinced me to let them watch part of Going Postal.
