Grandma and Grandpa Come For a Visit

Jeremy's parents came for a visit... finally. They wanted to come a year ago March for Jet's baby blessing, but it wasn't safe then. Now things are calming down and people are getting vaccinated and they were able to make the trip in May. Yay. I love Jeremy's parents.
They were here to congratulate Nichole for getting her driver's permit.
Before and After

They were here to go to Jr.'s last orchestra concert of the year and afterward when we had pie to celebrate for National Apple Pie Day on May 13.
We didn't have any ice cream to go with our apple pie so Jr. drank some milk with his pie.
"It's like having pie and ice cream but sadder."

May 13 was also National Fruit Cocktail Day but we had some of that with dinner the next night. We also had buttermilk biscuits with dinner since May 14 was National Buttermilk Biscuit Day.
Jr. let me know that Friday, May 14, was Fintastic Friday a.k.a. Give Sharks a Voice Day. How appropriate that Jet was wearing a shark outfit that Grandma and Grandpa gave him.

May 15 was International Day of Families. We certainly got family time in. Grandma and Grandpa took a drive up Provo Canyon to look at Bridal Veil Falls with the kids and me while Jeremy had his virtual writing group with the Provo Library.

After that they went with us to the Tulip Festival at Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point.

We gave Nichole the camera for most of the time and were not disappointed.
Grandma and Grandpa spent time with us after church on Sunday when the kids made dinner. Lucky made BBQ pizza because May 16 was BBQ Day. Jr. prepared carrots. Jr. Jr. prepared bananas with honey. Since it was World Baking Day and National Sea Monkey Day, Nichole made Monkey Bread.

We had a really great time when Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. I'm so glad it worked out. I'm also glad they finally had a chance to meet Jet. He had fun with them as did the rest of us.

Day, Day, Day, Day

May 2 is a great day to celebrate.
The kids and I went for a nice Sunday drive up the canyon so we could all see Bridal Veil Falls. This time we just stopped at the overlook to get some quick pictures.
Having fun like that was appropriate for World Laughter Day.
My precious!

For dinner that evening, we celebrated World Tuna Day and Baby Day with snowman sandwiches with tuna filling and baby carrot noses. We saved the rest of the lemonade from Paco's birthday so we could celebrate Lemonade Day on May 2.

Happy Easter Egg Hunt

April 17 is Blah Blah Blah Day.  With dinner we had what we call "Blah Blah Blah" which is apples with peanut butter and honey.  In fact, we had some "roasted peanuts and honey" peanut butter in our pantry so we used that.  Yumm.
After dinner we had our Easter Family Home Evening including an Easter egg hunt.  While waiting for Jeremy to help the Easter Bunny, the kids and I read books in the kids' room.  The suggestion from the Orem Library's reading activity calendar for today was to "listen to classical music today while you read to your child."  Jr. read to the little boys while I held the CD player and speakers.  We put on Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite" so the kids could hear "Morning Mood" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King."  That piece was a special request when we were talking about this activity coming up.
At dinner, Jr. Jr. suggested we save some of our carrots and put them out for the Easter Bunny.  That was so thoughtful of him.  During the hunt, Jr. Jr. noticed that the carrots had been eaten when he found one of his eggs in the bowl.
The kids had a good time but Lucky had a hard time opening his eggs.  This should be a good thing so he doesn't get into the candy too much, but he found he could open them by throwing them on the floor so they split open.  Unfortunately this meant that the candy scattered everywhere.  After a while, he allowed me to help him open them.
We had a good time this evening.

I Forgot to Mention

I forgot to mention that on St. Patrick's Day, I was going to cut up carrots to go along with dinner and Jr. suggested I cut them into carrot coins like gold coins for the holiday.
I did.

Bunny Blondies

You know I like to try out recipes and crafts from FamilyFun Magazine.  A while ago I made "Bunny Blondies" from the September 2012 issue.  I completely forgot to take pictures and they didn't last long because they were so good.
Well, I made them again.  Correction- Jr. Jr. and I made them today.  We got some Mommy-Jr. Jr. bonding time.  It was great.
And they tasted so good again.  I made sure to get a picture this time.
And the recipe is online so you can make them, too.  Although, they don't call them Bunny Blondies.  They call them "Carrot Cake Blondies."

Big Boy Carrots

Jr. Jr.:  Are those big carrots?
Mommy:  Well, they're not baby carrots?
Jr. Jr.:  Are they big boy carrots?
Mommy (confused):  Are they big boy carrots?
Mommy (realization):  Oh, I see.  As compared to baby carrots.  Big boy carrots.  Ha Ha Ha Ha.

I look like a walrus.
