The Muppet Christmas Carol

We normally do our tradition of watching The Muppet Christmas Carol on Humbug Day (December 21) for obvious reasons. This year Humbug Day is on a Sunday and we choose not to watch movies in our home on Sundays (personal choice to help it be different from other days of the week) so we made a last minute decision to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol on December 5 which is Walt Disney's birthday (also appropriate).
I asked the kids to make guesses at which point in the movie I would fall asleep. One said the scene where Christmas Present says, "Come in and know me better man." One said during Christmas Past. One was generous and said I'd make it all the way to Christmas Future.
We had to pause the movie a few times (put food away because we ate dinner while watching). We did scripture study during one of the pauses. I ended up falling asleep at the very end of "that song" for those that have watched the extended edition. So at the end of Christmas Past right before Christmas Present.

Celebrating In December

December 1 was Eat a Red Apple Day. We did.

Since it was also the beginning of December, we started our Countdown to Christmas scripture study. Pick a flag with a scripture for each day, answers questions, earn mint M&Ms.
The first Sunday in December is always the First Presidency Christmas devotional so we are able to say a song that was sung, a story that was told, something like that to earn our mint M&M. President Nelson encouraged us to gain our own testimony of Jesus Christ, that He is the son of God, and because of Him we don't have to go through challenges alone. That is a great thing to remember (I'm glad I took notes).

December 4 was National Cookie Day. We took Oreo cookies and cream pudding and Oreos and made "Dirt."

December 5 was Walt Disney's birthday. We listened to Walt Disney music and some interviews with him. I made sure to wear my bow earrings that night at Jr.'s holiday concert.

For St. Nicholas Day on December 6, everyone got candy in their shoes again. It was also Put on Your Own Shoes Day. Jeremy didn't think he'd gotten any candy in his shoes. Ha Ha Ha. He realized he did after he put them on. Tee Hee.

We had good intentions of celebrating Cotton Candy Day on December 7 and Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day on December 8 but it didn't really happen. So December 9 we finally traveled in time to eat cotton candy but not before Jr. Jr. posed in an epic time traveler position.

December 11 was International Mountain Day. We took that day to make a mountain of latkes, ate challah bread, and played dreidel with chocolate coins which we ate, too. Yumm.

On Frank Sinatra's birthday on December 12, I listened to Frank Sinatra music while getting things done.

On Cocoa Day, December 13, we were going to do our annual Polar Express Party. We got as far as Jeremy dressing up and reading the book to us. Then I was tired and didn't want to deal with things, getting supplies out for cocoa. Sigh. I went to bed and the kids played video games.

December 14 was Monkey Day. I went to watch one of my monkeys play in his first real orchestra concert. Well done, monkey.

December 15 was Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. I didn't get any pictures of Jeremy wearing it but he got himself a t-shirt this year with this on it:
I love it.
That's enough for one post. Stay tuned for more December 2023 catching up.

Happy Birthday, Walt Disney!

Have a holly, jolly, Christmas. It' the best time of the year.

Thanks to whomever continued my blog when I was called away. I got as far as "Happy Birthday" on the title of the post. Someone continued the rest of the title in the way I wanted since December 5 is Walt Disney's birthday. I'm not sure about the first line of the post itself, however. Not sure what Burl Ives singing that Christmas song has to do with Walt Disney but whatever. I mean Burl Ives was in Summer Magic with Hayley Mills which was a Walt Disney film so...

Anyway, celebrating Walt Disney's birthday this year, we watched Disney produced things between and while getting things done. That included homework. For a book report, Jr. made a giant cookie in the skillet. Nice, Jr. He shared. Nice, Jr.

I managed to give haircuts to all the boys save Jet. Jeremy didn't get a before picture but the others did.

All set for the holidays. No more hair in the eyes. Yay.

Nichole wanted to see what DuckTales looked like through the "Noir" setting on the phone. O.K.?

So that's what we did to celebrate Walt Disney's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Captain Jack Disney

December 5 is Walt Disney's birthday.
After the boys went to bed, Nichole, Jeremy, and I started the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Then it got too late and we didn't finish it.  But we celebrated.

We also had a discussion earlier about a theory going around about how Mary Poppins is a time lord.  Think about it.  She has a bag that's bigger on the inside.  When she comes, she immediately takes control of a situation and expects to be obeyed.  And she can regenerate as we see from the new movie that's just coming out, Mary Poppins Returns.

I also went around singing Disney songs to celebrate Walt Disney's birthday.

I Don't Have Any Pictures For This Post

March 4- National Dance the Waltz Day.  Jeremy explained to me how we celebrated.
We went to a friend's house who played a waltz on a violin while Jr. Jr. and Lucky danced.
We watched the opening sequence of the movie, Strictly Ballroom, which has the characters dancing a waltz.
We watched Doctor Strange, a Marvel movie which is owned by Waltz Disney.

Feed the Friends, Tuppence a... wait

December 5 is Walt Disney's birthday.  Yesterday as bags of birdseed were being filled, some of it spilled out.  As I cleaned it up today I sang, "Feed the birds.  Tuppence a bag."

This evening for LIGHTtheWORLD, Lucky and I took dinner over to some friends who were feeling under the weather.  "Jesus healed the sick and so can you."
Lucky insisted that he come with me to deliver the food.  He was such a good helper.  Thanks for your service, Lucky.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Disney

December 5 is Walt Disney's Birthday.  To celebrate, Jr. Jr. and I put on Toy Story 2 in the afternoon and both fell asleep on the couch.
Later he and I both stayed awake while reading Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Goes Christmas Shopping.

I think after yesterday's big celebrating, it was okay to do simple celebrating today.
