Noodle, Don't Noodle

We celebrated without Jeremy while he was gone. Here's some of what we celebrated:

October 6 was National Noodle Day. We had angel hair pasta and alfredo. I love alfredo.

Did you know they changed National Taco Day? I just found out when my mom wished me a Happy National Taco Day on October 7 this year. It used to always be on October 4. Now it's always Taco Tuesday
We made homemade tortilla chips which can be used with taco salad. We didn't eat taco salad, though.

October 7 was also Chocolate Covered Pretzel Day. Jr. Jr. melted some chocolate chips and we dipped pretzel sticks in them. Mmmm.

October 8 was Fluffernutter Day. I had this on the calendar. I planned on making Fluffernutter sandwiches the whole time. The day of, I realized I didn't have marshmallow fluff. I knew we didn't have marshmallow fluff. It didn't occur to me to go shopping for marshmallow fluff even though that is what is needed for Fluffernutter sandwiches. So we got creative and made grilled Fluffernutter sandwiches with peanut butter, and marshmallows when melted become marshmallow fluff.
Woohoo. Creativity!
Consensus: Members of my family are not fans of grilled peanut butter sandwiches. Several would prefer grilled cheese. Good to know. Although we do like waffle cones with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and peanut butter, so it's the grilled sandwich aspect that doesn't work with the peanut butter.

Speaking of grilled cheese sandwiches, the next day, October 9, Jr. Jr. and I were eating grilled cheese sandwiches and this conversation happened.
Mom: It's Moldy Cheese Day. Guess how I celebrated.
(Jr. Jr. looks at me blankly)
Mom: It's Moldy Cheese Day. (wiggles sandwich) Guess how I celebrated.
(Jr. Jr. looks down at his grilled cheese sandwich and starts to laugh)
Jr. Jr.: That deserves a hug. (proceeds to give me a hug)

I mentioned I didn't think we even had any moldy cheese in the fridge. I found some a few days later while I was cleaning out the refrigerator.

Taco Tuesday

Tuesday, October 4, was National Taco Day. I hadn't gone shopping yet after Shelftember so I didn't have any taco shells and we ate up all the tortilla chips with Conference Nachos so in true shelf cooking fashion (use what you have), we had taco pasta.

Then I went to yet another Orem Reads event at the Orem Library that night and listened to Sarah M. Eden again. She read the first chapter of one of her new books coming out next year then answered some questions.

It was so nice to hear her praising libraries and what her local library did for her when she was young because all of my children (and my husband and I) love the library.

Happy 2-22-22

Happy 2-22-22. I made sure to get a picture with Jet awake this time (see 2-2-22).

The kids and I went out for a drive today to get 22 species of birds on 2-22-22. We got them. Jr. got a picture of a very obliging black-crowned night heron.

Nichole got several pictures of bald eagles flying around but I didn't get those pictures from her.

The kids pointed out that we had the 2nd child with us and the 2 year old. More 2s.

When we got home we had soft tacos and sweet potato strips. Some people were calling it "Taco Twosday." It was Cook a Sweet Potato Day.

Cinco de Mayo 2020

Cinco de Mayo this year was on Taco Tuesday so we ate taco... salad. It got too late to make taco shells from corn tortillas but we had tortilla strips.
