More balloons at the Tulip Festival. Jeremy had a request to recreate his windmill with the Dutch boy and girl kissing that he did back in 2014.
It turned out great again. I helped twist the boy and girl and Lucky and I helped deliver them today. Jeremy had already built the windmill at the visitor's center yesterday.
Lucky just loves helping out with the balloons. It's so fun to have him want to help.

We've Been Busy
What's that? I haven't blogged in a while? We've been busy.
Remember when Jeremy made "Starry Night" for the Orem Library the Summer of 2014? This is the scaled down version but it still took a lot of work.
Balloon art for the kids' elementary school art show. Isn't it great?

Garlic Heron
April 19 was Garlic Day. My parents gave us garlic from their garden and we used some in spaghetti sauce. Then of course I forgot to take a picture. Oh, well.
We do have pictures of the new balloon sculpture at Ashton Gardens for the Tulip Festival. Combining our love of birds with our business, we made a great blue heron standing in water with a group of cattails (or as Jeremy likes to call them KAT-tails since I made those).

National Animal Crackers Day 2018
April 18 is National Animal Crackers Day. ZZ and Lucky got together for animal cracker eating fun.
Here's the video for it:
A story about this video:
We asked the kids to guess what kind of animal they were eating. They each had their own technique. Lucky tried to guess what it was before he ate it. ZZ decided to wait until after she ate to say what she thought it was.
About halfway through, for I don't know what reason, ZZ decided to have her back to the camera and was that way for most of the rest of the video.
Let me know why you think she turned away from the camera.
ZZ and Lucky will be making more videos together so check back on my YouTube channel as well as here at my blog to see how a couple of 4-year olds...

The KAT's Meow
Lucky: Mom, what are you doing?
Mom: Yoga.
Lucky: Yoda doesn't do like that!
Lucky: Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Batbanana!
(Jr. Jr. shows Lucky his kinder egg he got at school)
Lucky: I've never seen that before.
Jr. Jr.: That's because they're made in Hungary and other states that are not Utah.
Lucky: Who's snack are you going to do first?
Mom: Daddy's because he asked first.
Lucky: Ahhh, but I'm cute!

Charlie Chaplin's Birthday
April 16 is Charlie Chaplin's birthday. The kids celebrated by watching a Charlie Chaplin movie. The older kids were nice enough to read the words that went with the silent film for the younger.

Rapid Fire Catching Up
9:05 am- O.K. How fast can I catch up on what's been going on? We've had a bunch of stresses so I'm not going to talk about everything. Here's what I will say:
March 14- Pi Day. I didn't get up my YouTube video of Lucky and ZZ making a pie. I'll eventually get it up. I did work on a balloon sculpture. It was a circle. That fit in with Pi day.
March 15- Ides of March. We ate Little Caesar's pizza. That works, right?
March 17- St. Patrick's Day. Nichole and I wore green and went to see my niece play Wendy in her school play of "Peter Pan." She did a great job.
For dinner that night, we ate leprechaun-sized food.
March 20- First Day of Spring. We had a nice spring salad to eat.
March 23- Neighborhood Culture Night. Jeremy represented Hungary.
There were pinatas.
March 25- International Waffle Day. Yes, that's what we ate.
March 31- General Conference. Nichole and I got up really early in the morning to pick up a friend and got to a lek to see the sage grouse displaying.
At home we watched General Conference and ate nachos.
April 2- National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. We ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches then had an Easter Egg hunt and colored eggs with friends.
April 4- Walk Around Things Day. We did our short-eared owl survey and walked around the van to look for birds.
April 5- First Contact Day. Jeremy and I watched the Star Trek movie, "First Contact." I didn't take pictures.
April 8- Draw a Picture of a Bird Day. I can't find the picture of the birds that were drawn that day, but here's one Nichole did another day. It was again based on a photo we took.
Besides these specific holidays, there were also birding trips, balloon twisting, and somewhere in there, Nichole had an orchestra festival and Jr. was Jack B. Nimble in his school play, "Law and Order: Nursery Rhymes Unit."
Oh, and go see our balloon sculptures at the Tulip Festival going on right now at Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. New sculptures every week.
So there. Rapid fire catching up. -10:22am.

I know you don't find peacocks in the wild in Utah, but Jeremy and I were driving along and saw these and wanted to take pictures.

Fish Fingers and Custard Day 2018
April 3 is Fish Fingers and Custard Day. We celebrate by eating fish sticks dipped in vanilla pudding (much easier than making custard).
Lucky and ZZ got together again, this time to make fish sticks and vanilla pudding. Here's the video that came from that:
A story about the video:
ZZ couldn't figure out how to say "custard day." It kept coming out "coaster day." She did however figure out that when you line the fish sticks up on the cookie sheet it looks like a xylophone. I thought that was very clever.
And every time ZZ put partial pieces of fish sticks (or partially eaten pieces) on the cookie sheet, Lucky took them off. They ended up with a nice "xylophone" of fish sticks.
ZZ and Lucky will be making more videos together so check back on my YouTube channel as well as here at my blog to see how a couple of 4-year olds...
