And then there are those busy days. Here's what we did today:
Jeremy left this morning to deliver and install a rocket. He built it in pieces and managed to fit all the pieces into our minivan. Yeah. It was for a science fair down at BYU. Since he was able to get it all in our van, he only had to make one trip and then install it. It turned out like this:
Nice.
While he was gone, the kids and I celebrated Appreciate a Dragon Day, January 16, by watching some Animaniacs sketches or episodes with dragons and then watching Pete's Dragon.
When Jeremy got back we all got ready and headed down to BYU. We stopped and got pizza on the way because it was one of those busy days and we knew we would be out a long time and we didn't have enough bread to make sandwiches for everyone, etc. etc. etc.
So when we got to BYU, Jeremy had a couple pieces of pizza then headed in to help them move the rocket over a little because they were going to have performances in that area.
When he got done and back out to the van, a couple kids were still eating. When everyone was done, we all went in to the Wilkinson Center. Jeremy took the bases off the rocket so we could take those home and we walked around a bit.
When we got outside to go back to the van, it was snowing in such a way that it was pleasant for the kids to put their heads toward the sky to feel the snow or catch it on their tongues. Nice.
After we got back to the van again, we headed over to the wedding reception for a friend of ours from college. It was nice to see her and wish her and her husband well.
It was a busy day. Lots of running around but it was good.

Why I Love My Husband
This is why I love my husband. For National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day, January 14, I was making hot pastrami sandwiches while Jeremy went to get the kids from school. In the middle of making them I grabbed the camera so I could get pictures of some of the finished sandwiches while others were cooking.
Later, I was in a hurry getting kids ready and fed and trying to eat sandwiches myself, when along comes my wonderful husband with the camera and takes some pictures to make sure I had some for a blog post about this holiday.
That's why I love my husband. This is not the first time he's taken pictures for me to use in a blog post, either. He is thoughtful.

National Rubber Ducky Day 2016
We spent the last several days putting together a video for YouTube celebrating National Rubber Ducky Day on January 13. In the video, we go on a search for "the elusive rubber ducky," but what do we find? All sorts of other birds. I took videos we had taken in the past (Winterish videos since some birds are around only in the Summer) and the other day I took Lucky and Jr. Jr. out to some places to record them, especially Jr. Jr. saying, "Is that a rubber ducky? Is that a rubber ducky?" and recorded them saying, "No, that's a western scrub-jay" or "that's a Cooper's hawk." I even got some more videos of birds that day. I put them together in a cute little video, "Looking for the Elusive Rubber Ducky," and posted it this morning.
Then while Jr. and Nichole were in school, Jeremy and I took the younger boys out bird watching. We went to a new spot for us and saw some new to us birds (some we'd seen before but hadn't got pictures). We also saw some old familiar friends such as northern flickers.
Here are some of the friends we saw today.
Jeremy and I laughed about how it was a good thing I got my video up this morning because we got a lot more videos today and it would have taken longer to add so much. Even though we did get better videos of American coots today.

Don't Forget Your Panda Slippers
We like the movie, Labyrinth. There is one scene where the main character ends up in a junk yard and goes into a room like her own room at home. A junk lady comes in and starts bringing her all these "important" things like toys and dolls and her teddy bear. All these things start sticking to her back as if she is slowly turning into a junk lady, too. She escapes by remembering what really is important- her baby brother.
One of the things the junk lady brings to her is her panda slippers. "Here's your panda slippers. You know how much you like your panda slippers."
One day, Lucky got up from a nap and wanted a bunch of blankets around him (as many as he could see). He wanted more and more put on him... and his teddy bear. It was so funny. I brought him out to show Jeremy and started quoting the junk lady (after I made him stay there so I could run and get the camera, of course).
Now every time he's wrapped up in a bunch of blankets with his teddy bear I say things like, "Don't forget your panda slippers," in the junk lady's voice.
By the way, I think he has seven blankets in these pictures. Seven... and his teddy bear.
