Read-a-Thon

The elementary school had a read-a-thon again this year so Lucky did a lot of reading during those times. It was Star Wars themed this year.
Jet and I went to Parents and Pastries with Lucky again to have treats and read books.
At the end of the two weeks, Lucky was one of the top readers in the school so he got to be on stage during the final assembly doing an act with the other top readers. It's a good thing he was wearing Jedi clothes that day.
He also got a medal and all the kids in the school got light sabers to take home. Fun.
Once again, I'm glad my kids love reading so much. And it's fun that Lucky likes a challenge... especially a reading challenge.

80 Year Anniversary

80 years ago, June 2, Babe Ruth retired from baseball.  To celebrate, we had Baby Ruth candy bars while at the Teddy Bear Picnic for the Orem Library's Summer Reading Program.
We also stopped in the library to see Jeremy's creation this year.  It was not as big as Starry Night was last year but it fit this year's theme.  "Nature Jedis: May the Forest be With You."
After visiting the library, we got to go over and play with some friends we haven't seen for a few years.  The kids had a blast and I enjoyed spending time with my friend.  This friend and I used to spend time when we were newly married and when we were both pregnant with our first children.  It's fun to have friends you can be so comfortable with when you get together even if you haven't seen them for a while.
Other things we did today-
Watched a movie while playing in balloon boxes.
Nichole's loose tooth came out.
It was a good day.

Halloween Costumes 2011

So last year I sewed Halloween costumes for the kids and blogged about it.

This year I sewed costumes for them again. Jr. was Luke Skywalker, Nichole was Princess Leia, and Jr. Jr. was an Ewok (most probably Wicket).
I sewed the Jedi robe, Princess Leia dress, and Wicket hood. Nichole's wig is made from yarn. I got the idea from the October 2010 issue of FamilyFun Magazine.

Since I spent all my time making costumes for the kids, I didn't spend much time thinking how to dress up myself. I do like dressing up. So yesterday, I thought about my ruthlessness way back when and how I hadn't gotten rid of the Mrs. Claus coat. I thought if I put that coat on and carried a pizza sheet (let's call it a cookie sheet) to put candy on to hand out, it would work for a costume. When I told Jeremy that, he said he could dress up as an elf. So we had theme costumes, too.

And do you like our pumpkin Jeremy carved, er... I mean sculpted?

Happy Halloween.

Lego Jedi Academy Birthday Party

We like reasons to celebrate. What are some of our current reasons to celebrate? A very clean living room and bathroom. A new vacuum cleaner.

Oh, and somebody's 4th birthday.
Time to throw a party!

Welcome to the Lego Jedi Academy. Please come in. While you wait, enjoy coloring a Yoda mask.

Time to learn the ways of the force. Knock down the villains with beanbags.

Now that you've learned to control the force, try it blindfolded to destroy the Death Star piñata.
Hooray for already bagged candy inside the piñata. Everyone gets the same amount.

Phew. Time to relax with our new friends, the Ewok cupcakes... and ice cream.

Present Time!

Now for light saber training.
Defeat that evil Sith.

Congratulations. You are now a Jedi Knight. Here's your certificate of accomplishment.

Now have some fun playing with those presents.
