Adopt a Balloon Animal Day 2018

February 24 is Adopt a Balloon Animal Day.  To celebrate, our family went with other birders to the Snow Goose Festival in Delta.  It was coooooold but this year we made sure everyone had scarves and gloves and other needed gear for being in the cold.  It was so cold the reservoir was frozen so there were no geese on the water.  We had to find them in the fields or flying around.  It was still fun to see them.

We continued birding on the way home.  At one spot we stopped to look at evening grosbeaks and mountain bluebirds.
Jeremy had made balloon snow geese and Ross's geese for the birders so he handed them out then (with some help from Lucky).  Our birding friends enjoyed the balloons.
We were also celebrating Jeremy's birthday so we had yummy cake with the birders.  It was still sooooooo cold.  It was a lot of fun, though.
It was fun to see so many different birds and spend time celebrating with these birders and with our awesome family.

Flowers with Friends

Lucky and I went to visit friends today and made candy cookie flowers... or cookie candy flowers (?).  Well, whatever we made, it was fun.

Zelda Party!

February 21 is the Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda.  We celebrated a few days early with friends.  Besides playing Breath of the Wild, we had themed foods!

Nichole also drew a picture of a Zora that day.
Love our friends and love celebrating with them.  Happy celebrating Zelda everybody.

Sledding!

What happens when you finally get a foot of snow after months of nothing?  You go sledding of course.
And that's how Jeremy and the boys celebrated President's Day with no school.

Pluto Day 2018

February 18 was Pluto Day.  We decided to have cold food because Pluto is a cold planet.

Pasta salad
Raw broccoli
Cantaloupe- it's small, round, and very good
Jeremy used a melon baller to create round cantaloupe planets.
Look!  It has craters.
Water with ice cubes

Yay, Pluto!

Happy Chinese New Year!

We kept it a little simpler this year for Chinese New Year. Rice and orange chicken, steamed (and fresh) broccoli, pineapple and fortune cookies. Okay, some of the food was more authentically Chinese than others. I mean fortune cookies? Yeah, we know they are American.

We have been celebrating in other ways too. We are dog tired. Happy New Year of the dog!

Just a Couple of Notes

The other day we got to meet up with some friends who were visiting from out of town.  It was so good to see them after so many years.  They invited several people to meet at the Bean Museum at BYU so that's where we went.  Fun stuff and it was fun to watch the little kids run around.
Then yesterday was Valentine's Day.  I made heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, Jr. gave everyone in the family Valentines, Jeremy made dinner, Jr. Jr. and Lucky set the table, and Nichole serenaded us with "That's Amore" on the violin after dinner.  Way to show love by doing service on Valentine's Day everyone.
