Eat Your Jello Day 2014

After a nice afternoon racing veggie cars,

it's nice to be able to celebrate Eat Your Jello Day, July 12, by... eating Jell-o.

And it's nice to remember to start the jello early enough that it's ready by dinner.

National Sugar Cookie Day 2014

July 9 is National Cookie Day.  Need I say more?

Just don't forget to clean the crumbs and frosting off afterward.

My Kids are a Hoot

July 8 is Video Games Day.
This is not to be confused with National Video Games Day which is on September 12.
We've celebrated National Video Games Day in September a few times, but looking back at my blog, I don't think we've celebrated (or at least I haven't blogged about) Video Games Day in July.  July is usually a very busy month so I'm not completely surprised.
So this year, we celebrated Video Games Day.  We watched Wreck-It-Ralph.  Well, I took a nap through it.  Afterward we listened to some different versions of video game music online and watched some videos to go along.
I didn't get any pictures of the video games celebrating (you can imagine people sitting around watching a TV or computer), so here are some pictures of my cute kids as owls.

Eat Beans Day 2014

July 3 is Eat Beans Day.  What a perfect day to bring some bean dip to a summer barbecue and get pictures with friends.

 

Zeppelin Bend

In honor of the anniversary of the first zeppelin flight on July 2, 1900, here is a zeppelin bend:

To celebrate, besides taking pictures of that knot, we made things fly through the air.  In this case, foam darts from PVC.

Speaking of the zeppelin bend, there is a story that there was a navy officer that insisted that his airships only be moored using this knot (hence the name).  Later on in his life, though, he said that he'd never heard of it.  Hmm.  Interesting.
