Celebrating with Chocolate... Again

June 16 was National Fudge Day.  I went to Girls' Night and brought homemade fudge- almond joy fudge.  Yumm.  There were leftovers so my family got some, too.
June 18 was Father's Day.  I didn't take pictures but the kids had wrapped little peanut butter cups in foil and while Jeremy was taking a nap and I was making dinner, they created a trail from where he was sleeping on the bed through the hall and the living room, into the kitchen and over to the freezer.  Inside the freezer was a bag of Reese's Pieces that said Happy Father's Day on it.
Jeremy woke up because he shifted in his sleep and knocked some of the peanut butter cups off the bed.  The kids had surrounded him while he was sleeping.
He enjoyed what the kids did for him.  Good job, kids.  And good job, Jr., for coming up with the idea.  You have such great creativity.

A Quick Valentine Note

Some quick things about Valentine's Day:

Last night, Jeremy made us pink heart pancakes because today was Valentine's Day.
This morning, the kids had leftover pancakes for breakfast.

Jeremy did a juggling/magic show and gave out balloon animals for both the older kids' class parties.  The timing worked out that he was able to go to both.
Jr. Jr. of course got one, too.

The kids watched a movie while eating their dinner.

Jeremy and I were going to make our own special dinner together, but Lucky needed Mommy, so Jeremy made most of the dinner.

I was able to make chocolate peanut butter cups for Jeremy.

Jr. was a sweetheart handing out Valentines to his family members this morning.  Jr. Jr. was still asleep so Jr. set his on his bed.  When he woke up, Jr. Jr. came to me excitedly to tell me that there was his Valentine from Jr. on his bed when he woke up.

By the time we got the kids to bed tonight, I was so exhausted (the kids weren't difficult, but I've still got a new baby, which means I get exhausted from lack of sleep), Jeremy held Lucky so I could get some sleep.

Now Lucky's asleep, I'm up and writing this blog post, then I am going back to bed.

Night Night and Happy Valentine's Day.

Peanut Butter Cup Recipe

Lalani asked for the peanut butter cup recipe from Valentine's, and I'm finally getting around to putting it on the blog.
I don't remember where I got this recipe. It's been so long, it was just one of those "hey, I think I'll try this" recipes and they turned out so well. I've done them several times. Jeremy loves them. And kids can help, too. My three-year old helped last time.

Peanut Butter Cups

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup peanut butter

Coat a small cup muffin tin with cooking spray. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate with butter and oil, stirring often, until melted, 1-2 minutes. Pour about a tablespoon of chocolate mixture into each muffin cup.
Melt peanut butter in microwave 30-40 seconds. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of melted peanut butter over chocolate in each muffin cup. Top with another tablespoon of chocolate.
Chill in refrigerator 30 minutes, until set.
