This year, however, I was expecting it. And we celebrated.
I made four pizza crusts and told the kids we could have four pizzas. We started with the kids listing toppings they'd be interested in. I told them "no" to some, such as candy. "No, we are not putting nerds on a pizza."
After listing toppings, the kids made suggestions as to how to use those toppings on pizza.
BBQ chicken pizza
chicken alfredo pizza (with peppers on one half)
salsa and chicken pizza
and a pizza with all toppings we had listed but didn't have on the three chicken pizzas.
It got too late to make all four pizzas, so we just did the three. We'll have to make pizza again later with the rest of the toppings since there's a baked pizza crust just waiting in the fridge right now.
The kids helped make the pizzas, too, which added to the fun.
It's fun that the three oldest kids are old enough to suggest what kinds of pizzas they want now instead of it being the adults who decide and then check with the kids. Except for candy pizza. I'm not making that. At least not today. Tee Hee.
