Velociraptor Awareness Day

April 18 was Velociraptor Awareness Day. Jr. Jr. and Lucky made me "aware" of where to find Jet's velociraptor toy. Then she spent the day with us.

All showered and ready to go.
Helping with chores.
Let's make bread.
Reading books.
Let's pick up kids from school.
After school snack of animal crackers for National Animal Crackers Day (also April 18).
Dinner guest.
Wow, that day was exhausting.

Easter 2022

It was a lovely Easter at church. Jeremy missed it because he was staying home with a couple sick kids but they were able to watch Sacrament Meeting online still. I'm grateful for that. We've had so much sickness this school year. I thought we were finally getting out of it (you know- Spring) but four of my kids have missed school because of sickness in the last couple weeks (and I only have four school age kids, the fifth missed church). This is what I get for mentioning about getting out of sick season to some people. I jinxed it. But Easter was still nice.
So like I said, church was nice. Lucky got to sing with the Primary in Sacrament Meeting. I got to sing with the choir. There were a couple Primary age girls sitting next to me in choir so those girls got to sing every time. They did a good job, too.

We had a pleasant Easter dinner (we made some last minute substitutions and that's okay).

Since April 17 was also Blah Blah Blah Day, we made sure to read a book to Jet about the busiest brontosaurus who just wants to talk and talk and talk. "Blah blah blah blah blah."

It is one of three board books that Grandma and Grandpa gave to Jet while they were visiting. Jet looooves those books. He will bring them to us and have us read them to him over and over and over. Sometimes he will get the matching dinosaur toy out to "read along." Grandma and Grandpa also gave him a new triceratops which he will hold while we read the book about the tricky triceratops. Jet's triceratops will even look at the pictures. It is soooooo adorable. Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa. You hit a home run on these gifts.

P.S. I learned how to make a bunny out of a napkin.

If You Give Nichole a Medium...

Nichole is taking a sewing/quilting class at school. One of the assignments was to make a bag.
I absolutely love the inside and I'm not talking about the Terry Pratchett book in there, though that makes me happy, too. She's really gotten into Terry Pratchett books lately. So fun. But didn't she pick such pretty fabric for the lining?
You can tell these pictures were taken a while ago. We haven't had this much snow this Spring.

Birding Bonding

Jeremy and Nichole got their bonding time while birding the day before Easter. In the morning they went to Farmington Bay. In the afternoon they went on a UCB field trip.

When they got home that evening, we had a quick and easy dinner since we were planning a more complex dinner for Easter.

Ham!

For National Glazed Spiral Ham Day on April 15 we had a nice dinner of ham, potato salad, green salad, and stuffing.
There were some big pieces of spinach.
There was also some fun at the dinner table.
Jr. Jr.: Aagh. Mom's disguising spinach in the ham. She's secretly making us eat spinach.
The funny thing is Lucky wouldn't eat the ham but he would eat the spinach.
Lucky: I don't like this kind of ham because it comes from pigs.
Mom: Then what kind of ham would you like that doesn't come from pigs?
Lucky: The kind that comes from ham-burgers.

Orchestra Concert

April 14 was National Dolphin Day. Jet and I made dolphin noises. It was also International Moment of Laughter Day. We laughed. Jet actually laughed a lot that day not just for a moment. His siblings are very entertaining.

That evening Nichole had an orchestra concert. It was terrific. It took place at another school so there were two orchestras from each school performing. At the end they had all four orchestras perform a piece together. It was a huge group. It was awesome. Jeremy and I were both able to be there to support Nichole. It was so nice to be at an actual concert again. We've had so much sickness in our home that I keep missing them.

Then we went home and celebrated with hot chocolate with marshmallows. It's been that kind of weather again.
