Bundle Baby

One day my husband and my brother went out for my brother's birthday. They played in the snow.

In the meantime I had my first experience walking Nichole to and from school with all three kids in the cold.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for the cute little snow outfit for the baby. It helped both your daughter and your son, who didn't have to hurry back from his birthday fun.

While You Were Out

You don't know how many times I was about to grab the camera while you were at balloon jam, my husband. I kept having to remind myself that you took it with you. The kids were drawing. We were all dancing in the kitchen again, this time with twirling added in. The baby was getting a kick out of watching us jump around. (Though I think I overdid it a bit. I didn't feel so well when we finished. There was a reason I didn't go to balloon jam with you). Jr. Jr. was trying to roll over. I admit I did have the camcorder for that one. Nichole read this whole Matt and Mandy to Jr. in the February Friend Magazine. I only had to help her with the word "nowhere." She pronounced it "now here." There were a few other things but I can't remember them all.
Oh well. You'll just have to make do with a picture I took after you got home.

Our daughter has gotten so much better with her cutting. Nice straight lines (mostly) to make chain links.

Brownie Cook

There was a time that Nichole informed me of everyone's roles as far as cooking is concerned. Daddy's the pasta cook, Mommy's the rice cook, Nichole's the pizza cook, and Jr.'s the brownie cook. When Jr. Jr. was born, Nichole let me know that he is the bread cook. He couldn't be left out I suppose.

Jr. has become quite the helper in the kitchen. He still really likes those brownies, but he likes helping me make other things as well. The other day, I needed to wash a bowl to make brownies and Jr. was so sweet as to dry it. Then he helped make the brownies.

And of course he helped eat them. But I didn't get a picture of that.

The KAT's Meow

Nichole (while stepping on the scale): I’m 4-6-4.
Mommy (while stepping on the scale and getting a low battery signal): I’m… Lo.
Nichole: You’re low, Mom? You’re low? That means you’re not fast.

Spudnuts Recipe

Jill asked for our recipe for spudnuts, so here goes:

Spudnuts

2 C mashed potatoes
2 C warm milk
2/3 C sugar
10 C flour
5 Tbsp yeast
1 cube margarine (soft)
1 Tbsp salt
4 eggs beaten

Soften yeast in 3/4 C sweetened water. Mix all remaining ingredients except flour. Add 2-3 C of flour to mixture, add yeast then rest of flour. Dough should be almost sticky but not quite. Let it rise till double. Roll out on floured counter. Cut out donuts. Let raise again. Deep fry being careful not to puncture when turning. Drip on rack, then on paper towel. Then glaze.

Glaze

Mix 1 lb. powdered sugar with a little hot water and vanilla until consistency of honey.

Serves: a lot - most of the time we half (halve) the recipe.
Best served hot (in my opinion, when fresh they are better than Krispy Kreme).
