Beach Party!

When I told the kids I was planning our Tea Party (see what I posted on June 30, 2025), Jet told me he wanted a Beach Party.
Eventually we got to his Beach Party. He let me know he wanted smoothies for the party. He was content with milkshakes.
Other things we did for the Beach Party:

played with a beach ball (with a background beach scene), pretended to be crabs, put on music and danced, yelled, "Beach!" in our best Bluey voice, enjoyed a nice "beach read," ate s'mores, watched a movie that had beaches since June 13 was National Movie Night
We ran out of time so the next day we played MarioKart and chose beach courses.

The day before, June 13, was also Kitchen Klutzes of America Day. Sure glad I cleaned the table so my youngster had a place to smear his cupcake crumbs (after taking the cupcake off the plate it was on).

The KAT's Meow

Jet decided he wanted to name the Polish sausage Jeremy was cutting up. He named it "Meg."
Jeremy: Next time I do mountain man breakfast and I use Polish sausage and bacon, I can say I used Megs and bacon.
Jet then decided to speak for Meg: Oh no. Don't cut me up. Noooo.

In Primary, the children were singing, "To Be a Pioneer." Jet kept singing, "To be a pirate king."

Something Special

I found out recently that my cousin who I haven't seen in maybe 30 years, give or take, lives not that far from me. So we got together for lunch one day and did some catching up.
You know family is important to me so this was so nice.

Summer Reading part 2

I said I planned to use Summer Reading Programs as an excuse to read and reread books by Anneka R. Walker.

Provo Library had an activity where you checked out a book with a cover that matched your eye color. The first book I looked at to see if it would match was The Masked Baron by Anneka R. Walker. I really wanted to read it again. Guess what. It matched. My eyes have both green and brown in them which work with the trees on the cover.
The picture my husband took to show the match has greenery behind me which also matches greenery on the cover and you can see a little bit of my shirt which again unintentionally matches the character's clothing and my hair is brown. Ha Ha Ha Ha. Matching all around.

After this I read a few more books by the same author. I read the other books in this series (the second I read again, the third I read for the first time) and a stand alone book I read again... or listened to the audiobook. I've listened to a lot of audiobooks this Summer while working on other things.

Catching Up June 2025 part 2

Johnny Depp's Birthday was on June 9. I made sure to wear my bow earrings (which I like to wear on birthdays) and my Black Pearl (the ship) necklace. And... I had to be by water.

Here's a better look at my necklace.
When I remember, I like to wear it for International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

I couldn't help it.
Judy Garland's Birthday was on June 10 so I wore my bow earrings and pirate ship necklace again.
Did you know Judy Garland was in the movie "The Pirate" with Gene Kelly?

June 10 was also Black Cow Day. The kids had root beer floats with chocolate syrup.
Look. Nichole can make art out of anything.

It was also National Herbs and Spices Day and Egg Roll Day. I used my air fryer to make egg rolls.

June 11 was Corn on the Cob Day. Corn on the Cob is popular around here.

Summer Reading part 1

For the past couple of months we have done a lot of Summer reading and related activities.
Woohoo! Summer Reading! You know we love it.
The theme for both Provo and Orem libraries was "Colour Our World." Here are some things we did in no particular order:

Story Trails
Provo Library had a Story Trail along the outside of the library.
"How the Brazilian Beetles Got Their Gorgeous Coats"
We went to that one on National Trails Day, June 7. It was also Play Outside Day. Both worked to celebrate.

Lion's Park
"The Nightingale"
Jr., Nichole, and I found the end of the story first so I walked backward until we reached the beginning of the story. Luckily it was a well known story so there were no surprises reading it back to front. I went another day on a walk there to read it front to back. You know I like going for walks.

Lakeview Park
"How the Kangaroo Got Her Pouch"
We had to dodge sprinklers for our "title page" picture.

Kiwanis Park
"Dotson' Sa, Great Raven, Makes the World"
Jeremy and Nichole got to read this one while I watched Jet on a playground. I had to come back another day so I could finish it.

Quail Orchard Park
"How the Finch Got Her Colors"
As we were reading this one we were trying to figure out how the finch could be considered really colorful. We're used to house finches, goldfinches. They have colors but not lots of colors like the story was describing. Happily, the story explained that it was a Gouldian finch and we were content. We'd never heard of that finch before. We have now. Look it up. It is a very colorful bird.

Crafts
Jet and I had some fun doing crafts from the Provo Library.
Pumpkin Friend

Wooden Spoon Butterfly

Some of the kids and I made bookmarks.

We spent plenty of time in the libraries. Besides sitting down to read, there are so many different activities and programs at the library.
I'll talk about more Summer Reading later.
