30 Second Dance Party

One day, Jeremy and I were having a "not the best day."  I was in a funk, he was exhausted.  We were both just tired.  For family scripture study, we read from President Hinckley's quote book, "Stand a Little Taller."  Of course the subject for that day was "Enjoy Life."  The scripture that went along with the quote was Proverbs 17:22.  "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."  President Hinkley's quote was, "In all of living have much fun and laughter.  Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured."
We had not been having much fun and laughter that day.  So after we read the scripture and quote, Jeremy asked if we knew what we had to do now to go along with scripture study.  What?
"30 second dance party!"  He immediately jumped up and started dancing and the kids joined in.  Lucky saw what was going on and got so excited, he squealed and joined in as well.
It lasted longer than 30 seconds since I had to run and grab the camera.  And it really lifted everyone's spirits.
Thank you, Jeremy, for adding something so helpful to go along with our scripture study.
I have the best husband.

My Family

September 9 is Wonderful Weirdos Day, so why not show a picture of our wonderful family?
In front of the Taj Mahal of course.  The last sculpture that was built for the 7 Wonders of the World Balloon Art Exhibit.  Earlier this week, Jeremy got to come with the family to see it.  He had no more building to do, just go and enjoy it with the family.
And I couldn't not show this picture of the three oldest kids.  Look especially at Nichole's eyes and how she posed them for the picture.
My wonderful weirdos.

Read a Birthday Book

September 6 is Read a Book Day.  We celebrated by reading books.  Really, we did.  I just didn't get any pictures of it.  I have taken many pictures in the past of us reading books and put many on this blog.  Feel free to look around, go on a scavenger hunt, find those pictures of us reading books.  That's a way for you to celebrate this holiday.
We also celebrated my dad's birthday by having cake and ice cream for the kids and brownies and ice cream for the adults.  Yumm.  I did get a picture of that.

Be Late For Something Day

When I posted on Facebook that September 5 is Be Late For Something Day, one of my cousins warned me not to be late for the baptism.  One of the Wyoming cousins was getting baptized this morning, so the kids and I headed over there to support him.  Good job, cousin.
We were later than I wanted to be getting out the door, but we were not late for the baptism.  After the baptism, we got some nice family time with cousins and my aunt and uncle.  We had cake to celebrate my uncle's birthday early, not late, but the baptism boy did get to open up some belated birthday presents since he didn't have his grandparents and aunts and uncles there on his birthday.
And of course my kids again had fun playing with friends.
I didn't get a blog post up yesterday (I wasn't feeling the best) so I'll be late doing that.  Let me tell you about yesterday.
It was Eat an Extra Dessert Day but we just had brownies because I wasn't feeling up to making something else later in the day.
It was also crazy hair day at school.  Ha Ha Ha.  I took the clippers to Jr.'s hair, but only part of his hair.  He wanted a plus on his head.  I planned to cut the rest of it after school but since I wasn't feeling so well, I told him I'd fix it in the morning.
So I was late with that, even though I got him up early this morning because I wasn't going to take him to the baptism with his hair like that.
This is what happens when you wake a little guy up for a haircut early in the morning.  Practically sleeping in the chair.  Poor little guy.
It was a good day, though.

Scyscraper Day 2015

September 3 is Skyscraper Day.  This year I made mini pancakes for dinner that we could stack up like skyscrapers.
See, it's not just the kids who have creativity.

Interpreting Expressions

September 2 is National Blueberry Popsicle Day.  Where do you find blueberry popsicles?
Jr. Jr., Lucky, and I went grocery shopping this morning and looked in the freezer section.  We did find fruit and veggie bars, one flavor of which was blueberry medley.  There you go.  Blueberry popsicles.  So we had those for after school snack.
While we were eating our fruit and veggie bars, Jr. started "interpreting" everyone's facial expressions.  He was getting pretty creative.  I didn't write any of them down, but apparently one of the facial expressions I had was something like me wanting to shoot all the kids with a yellow paintball gun and say they were aliens and there was more but I can't remember.  I had no idea that was the expression I was showing.
Oh, I love that creativity.

Hat Day

It's so cute when the younger ones don't want to be left out in what the older children are doing.
Today was hat day at school.  I didn't get pictures of the school-age children but Nichole wore her Cook's Racing Pigs hat and Jr. wore Jeremy's coon skin cap.
While they were at school, Lucky found one of the hats that was an option for Jr. earlier.
He's so cute.
