After While, Crocodile

Jeremy left on another even longer trip to South Carolina.
"Bye. I'll miss you."

Since it was such a long multiple day drive that he and Marcus were taking, Jeremy kept me updated where they were, which state they were traveling through. I'm so used to the West (Northwest) where you can get through maybe three or four states total in a day of traveling (if that).

Jeremy: Meat me in St. Louis.
He sent me this text after I fell asleep one night. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw it and couldn't figure out why he was showing me his snacks while quoting the lyric, "Meet me in St. Louis." So I went back to sleep.
Finally the next morning while we were getting ready for family prayer (Jeremy often calls to join us for family prayer when he's away from home), I finally got it. And I'm the person who notices spelling mistakes. "Meat" me in St. Louis, while holding "meat" sticks. Sigh.

Because he was in South Carolina for a fair, he got to see new birds. He got very excited his first day seeing a "Fish Crow." I didn't know that was a thing. Like I said, I'm used to the West.
So cool. He first noticed it because he could hear a different call than the American Crows we get around here.
Other days he went for walks and got to see some birds we get around here but definitely some we don't- like cardinals!

He did do his balloon building as well. He built two scenes for the South Carolina State Fair.
One was a Harvest Scene with a barn, tractor, trailer, produce, etc.

One was a Merry-Grow-Round, a carousel where the middle was a stalk of corn and the "horses" were farm animals. The top and bottom were pieces of watermelon. See what other farm items you can spot in the pictures.

I really do love my husband's talents. And I love him. And I love when he comes home from trips.

See You Later, Alligator

Jeremy left on another trip the beginning of October. It was a quick trip. He had a one day balloon build in Wyoming, but he missed a few things while traveling and building.
There was the Grand Lunch at the elementary school. It is supposed to be like a grandparents sort of lunch but not everybody has grandparents near enough so the elementary school invites anyone "grand" in your life to come. I think that's sweet.
I noticed a while back that when Lucky brings a lunch from home, he writes part of "The Jabberwocky" on the outside of his lunch bag. He went through the whole poem and finished it the day of the Grand Lunch.
Since I want to be like my kids, I thought I'd join in and wrote part of a poem (from my elementary school days) on my lunch bag that day. Tee Hee.
(I did miss celebrating Shel Silverstein's Birthday on September 25 due to being sick.)
When it was time for Jet's lunch, I came over to join him and he got so excited to see me there, he was giggling. Awwww. I like that reaction. It makes me feel good when my children want to see and be with me. He asked if Daddy was there but I had to remind him that Daddy was on his trip.
That evening was Lucky's parent teacher conference with his teacher. Jeremy joined in on speakerphone as he was not physically able to be with us.
October 1 was Fire Pup Day so Lucky helped me make squid pups which we had with hot sauce.
When Jeremy got back from his trip, he made it home before the kids went to school, so he went when Jet asked him to take him to school.
After school, Jeremy was busy getting ready for another trip, so when Jet came out of school, the first thing he did when he gave me a big hug, because that's our ritual after school, was ask, "Where is my Dad?" What a sweetie. He wants both parents.
That night I made curry because... comfort food. I wanted something welcoming for Jeremy. We had homemade sourdough on the side because... I'm learning.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Jeremy was not available to go to Parent Teacher Conferences for Lucky with me. He had a big build at Thanksgiving Point. In fact, Jet and I delivered some balloons to him that day (we're big helpers).

Lucky's teacher said so many good things about him and how he's the type of kid that makes her love teaching. I don't say this to brag but to tell a funny story. During the conference with the teacher it was decided since Dad wasn't there, we would fool him into thinking Lucky wasn't doing so well. Lucky told me he could even make himself cry to go along with it. Man, that kid is good. Red eyes and everything.

While we were at the school we checked out Lucky's contribution to the Art Show. A pendant. Way to go, Lucky.

Jeremy was a little concerned when I hesitated while saying the teacher said Lucky had some things he could work on (she did, as in she wanted to push him even more so he could continue to grow). He wasn't that surprised when he found out we weren't serious. Tee Hee. Way to go, Lucky.
