A couple days later, we were really able to celebrate.
Jeremy made a pirate ship, like he did a couple years ago, complete with turning wheel at the helm (an upside down unicycle) and a working cannon (balloons sculpted around a fan that would blow out balloon cannonballs).
For dinner, we had sea dogs pirate ships (corn dogs with pirate sails sticking out). Carrot hooks (thinly sliced carrot pieces that bend to look like hooks). Stormy sea clouds (mashed potatoes). Pools of... red stuff (ketchup). You can decide for yourself what it is (C'mon. It's a family blog).
And for dessert, Pirate Hat Cake. We saw the cake in the March 2011 FamilyFun Magazine and have been waiting for months to do it for Talk Like a Pirate Day Observed.
We followed our treasure maps and dug up buried treasure with our shovels.
The treasure chest had pirate jewelry in it. The idea for the jewelry also came from the March 2011 FamilyFun Magazine.
I love finding reasons to celebrate.
So cool! You guys are definitely the most amazing, coolest, funnest and funniest family we know!
