State Welcome Signs

Remember last year when we went to Las Vegas? I took pictures of the State Welcome signs as we were driving. I thought it would be fun to do that on this trip to the Pacific Northwest as we would go through a few states. So here's what I got pictures of.
I was all set for going from Utah into Idaho, had the camera ready, and got this picture.

I was getting ready for going from Idaho to Oregon. I knew where the border was and leaned down to get the camera. As I was turning it on I noticed the Welcome sign and barely missed it as we passed.

Heading from Oregon into Washington I was all set but took the picture through the front windshield. Unfortunately the camera didn't focus on the sign but a squished bug instead.

I found that one really funny since I had the sign framed in there well, it just didn't focus on it, but focused on the bug really well.
After Washington, heading back into Oregon, we crossed the border but couldn't find the welcome sign anywhere. Then I saw a little green sign on the left of the road saying something like "Entering Oregon." So I tried to snap a picture of that (not thinking it was very welcoming), but the GPS was in the way.

Then I noticed the Welcome sign for Oregon on the right, but couldn't find it on the screen of the camera to get the picture. Grrrr.

I drove passing from Oregon into Idaho and Idaho into Utah so we didn't get any pictures of those Welcome signs. I just thought it was funny how the pictures turned out this time and thought it would make a good blog post.

Best Friends

The story behind this is:
Nichole found a photo booth at the Pacific Science Center and went inside. She saw that it put her face in a frame and said, "I want my picture taken." So Jeremy pulled out the camera, pointed it at the screen in the booth, and saved $2.50.

S'Mores

One night in Washington, we made s'mores in my in-laws' backyard. They were fun and sticky and yummy and messy and everything you'd expect about s'mores.

Apparently, Nichole wasn't as much a fan of the sticky/messy part. This is how she left the s'more.

Congratulations, Cousin

My cousin gave birth to twin boys yesterday. Amazing. So from the Telford family, we say, "CONGRATULATIONS!"
Welcome to the world, boys.

What every yard really needs

Just so you know, when I blog about our vacation, I'm not writing about things in any particular order. For example, this pink flamingo is in my parents' yard in Oregon. The picture of the kids in the pool was in my brother-in-law's yard in Washington. There will be more from Oregon and more from Washington. I'll post things as I feel like putting them up based on how much time I have or how much effort I want to put into it at the time (maybe how hot it is and whether I'd rather be at the computer or lying down).
So for the time being enjoy and expect lots more about our vacation- just not in any particular order.

Catch of the Day

A reminder: You can click on the picture to see it bigger.

Cousin: Let me show you a trick.
Jr.: O.K.
Cousin: You stand up here like this and jump in the water like this. Wheeee!
{Splash}
Jr.: I stand up like this and jump in the water like this. AAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!
{SPLASH}

I'm just paraphrasing the conversation. That's not exactly what was said.

Vacation

We went on vacation to the Pacific Northwest. It was wonderful. Except it didn't rain the whole time we were there. There was one day when I felt a few droplets- but it just sprinkled. It was not rain.
The best thing about the trip, though, was that we were together as a family.

I love my family.
